Mike O'Callaghan Military Medical Center
Mike O'Callaghan Military Medical Center is an American military hospital owned and operated by the United States Air Force. It is located on Nellis Air Force Base in Clark County, Nevada and is run by the 99th Medical Group (MDG). Members of the 99th Medical Group run the 50-bed medical treatment facility. The Air Force provides executive oversight of the facility, staffs all outpatient activities/clinics and inpatient beds for Department of Defense (DoD) beneficiaries. Veterans Administration (VA) patients also have privileges at the hospital if referred by the VA. Fully integrated into the Clark County emergency medical services (EMS) system, Mike O’Callaghan Military Medical Center (MOMMC) is the only hospital and only trauma center in northeast Las Vegas. Nellis Air Force Base
Nellis Air Force Base ("Nellis" colloq.) is a United States Air Force installation in southern Nevada. Nellis hosts air combat exercises such as Exercise Red Flag and close air support exercises such as Green Flag-West flown in " Military Operations Area (MOA) airspace", associated with the nearby Nevada Test and Training Range (NTTR). 99th Air Base Wing
The 99th Air Base Wing (99 ABW) is a United States Air Force unit assigned to the Air Combat Command (ACC) and its ACC subordinate organization, the United States Air Force Warfare Center. It is based at Nellis Air Force Base, Nevada and also serves as the host wing at Nellis. A non-flying wing, the organization oversees the daily base operations and mission support functions of Nellis AFB such as personnel, finance, civil engineering, security and supply. The 99 ABW is the successor organization to the World War II 99th Bombardment Group. Mike O'Callaghan
Donal Neil "Mike" O'Callaghan (September 10, 1929 March 5, 2004) was an American politician and educator who served as the 23rd Governor of Nevada from 1971 to 1979. He was a member of the Democratic Party. Early life Born in La Crosse, Wisconsin, O'Callaghan later moved to Sparta, where his family subsistence farmed. He lied about his age to join the U.S. Marine Corps, at the age of 16 and served from 1946 to 1948. He attended Boise Junior College and joined the U.S. Air Force in 1950 and served as an intelligence operator in the Aleutian Islands. O'Callaghan was transferred to the U.S. Army in 1952 to see combat and lost part of his left leg after being hit by a mortar round during a battle in the Korean War. He was awarded the Silver Star and Bronze Star and returned to the United States.
