Mihails Ziziļevs
Mihails Ziziļevs (born 27 December 1973) is a Latvian football midfielder who currently plays for FK Klaipėdos Granitas in the Lithuanian A Lyga. Playing career Ziziļevs started his career at his local club DJSS Daugavpils in the early 1990s. Until 2000 he played in his hometown, but then got an offer from Russian Premier League club Rubin Kazan. After two seasons in Russia Ziziļevs came back to Daugavpils and joined its local club Dinaburg FC. After a few seasons in Latvia Ziziļevs moved back to Russia, where he played for Metallurg Lipetsk and later also Luch-Energiya Vladivostok. Afterwards Ziziļevs came back to Dinaburg FC once more and after a very successful season he joined FK Ventspils, where playing for 3 seasons, he helped the club win the Latvian Higher League in 2006. Daugavpils
Daugavpils (see also other names) is a state city in southeastern Latvia, located on the banks of the Daugava River, from which the city derives its name. Latvian Supercup
The Latvian Supercup () is a one-match annual football competition. The two participating clubs are holders of the Latvian Higher League champions title and the Latvian Football Cup. The fixture is played before the start of the season. The first at so far only Supercup game was held in 2013, when Daugava defeated Skonto at Celtnieks Stadium in Daugavpils. SInce 2014, the competition has been suspended. In June 2020, the Latvian Football Federation said it plans to revive the competition, naming it after the late coach Jānis Skredelis, either in the summer of 2020 or 2021. 2012 Latvian Higher League
The 2012 Latvian Higher League was the 21st season of top-tier association football, football in Latvia. It began on 24 March 2012 and ended on 10 November 2012. FK Ventspils are the defending champions. The league comprised ten teams, one more than in the previous season. Teams The league returned to a ten-team circuit after having been forced to play the 2011 Latvian Higher League, 2011 season with only nine teams, following the withdrawal of SK Blāzma a few weeks before the season commenced. As a consequence of the Blāzma withdrawal, no team was directly relegated. 2011 Latvian First League champions FS METTA/Latvijas Universitāte from Riga were directly promoted. Metallurg Lipetsk
FC Metallurg Lipetsk () is an association football club in Lipetsk, Russia, formed in 1957. Their home, Metallurg Stadium, is located on Pervomayskaya Street, 59, in Lipetsk. History Their best result came in 1997 when they came 2nd in the Russian First Division. Coach Stanislav Bernikov of Metallurg was attacked by fans after a defeat on 25 September 2006 on his players, they shot at the coach and team with rubber bullets. Three players suffered with injuries and went to hospital; the coach Bernikov was then summarily dismissed.
