Midway is a city in Gadsden County, Florida, United States. It is part of the Tallahassee, Florida Metropolitan Statistical Area. According to the 2020 census, the population was 3,537, up from 3,004 at the 2010 census. History Midway has a very long history going back to the early days of Florida during its contact by Spanish explorers. There is a myth that has it that it was a point determined by representatives from Pensacola and St. Augustine to be Florida's capital, even though no point has actually been proven. Lafayette County is a county located in the north central portion of the state of Florida. As of the 2020 census, the population was 8,226, making it the second-least populous county in Florida. The county seat is Mayo. Lafayette County is a prohibition or partially dry county, allowing retail sales of beer. History Lafayette County was created on December 23, 1856, from part of Madison County on the same day as Taylor County was also split off from Madison County. At the time it comprised all the area of present-day Lafayette and Dixie counties. The county was named in honor of the Marquis de Lafayette, the French general who rendered assistance to the Continental Army in the American Revolutionary War. The famed Suwannee River forms the entire eastern boundary. The county courts first met at the home of Ariel Jones near Fayetteville. Midway, Santa Rosa County, Florida
Midway is an unincorporated community and census designated place (CDP) in southern Santa Rosa County, Florida, United States. It is part of the Pensacola– Ferry Pass–Brent, Florida Metropolitan Statistical Area. The area is located between the communities of Gulf Breeze and Navarre, on the Fairpoint Peninsula. Midway is often considered to be part of one, if not both, of these communities. Its actual boundaries vary from source to source, but unofficially include most areas from the intersection of Soundside Drive with U.S. Highway 98, eastward until Highway 98 becomes Navarre Parkway. Midway Water Systems, Inc., which provides water service to the communities of Gulf Breeze and Navarre, is located in Midway. The community also has a fire department, the Midway Fire Department.
