Mid-credits and post-credits scenes have been used in various Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) media, since the beginning of the franchise with the 2008 film ''Iron Man''. The use of such scenes as a whole has changed movie-goer expectations, and has received both praise and criticism. Individual scenes have been widely discussed, ranked, and criticized. In some cases, MCU films have multiple mid-credits and post-credits scenes, or excluded them entirely, and MCU television series have employed them after some episodes. As of ''Thunderbolts*'' (2025), the MCU has featured 86 post-credits scenes across 49 properties. Mjölnir (commonly written without diacritics as Mjolnir) and Stormbreaker, in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), are sentient enchanted weapons of choice used by Thor (Marvel Cinematic Universe), Thor. Both are melee weapons and were created out of Uru metal forged with the heat of a dying star in the Dwarven kingdom of Nidavellir (Marvel Cinematic Universe), Nidavellir, with the assistance of the dwarf king and master weapon-maker Eitri (Marvel Cinematic Universe), Eitri. Mjolnir is a hammer, and was enchanted by Thor's father, Odin (Marvel Cinematic Universe), Odin, so that only those the hammer deemed "worthy" are capable of wielding or even lifting it. Stormbreaker is an axe, and although it does not have such a worthiness enchantment, its power is such that a mere mortal attempting to wield it would be driven mad.
