Michigan's 3rd congressional district is a List of United States congressional districts, U.S. congressional district in West Michigan. From 2003 to 2013, it consisted of the counties of Barry County, Michigan, Barry and Ionia County, Michigan, Ionia, as well as all except the northwestern portion of Kent County, Michigan, Kent, including the city of Grand Rapids, Michigan, Grand Rapids. In 2012 redistricting, the district was extended to Battle Creek, Michigan, Battle Creek. In 2022, the district was condensed to the greater Grand Rapids, Michigan, Grand Rapids and Muskegon, Michigan, Muskegon areas, including portions of Kent County, Michigan, Kent, Muskegon County, Michigan, Muskegon, and Ottawa County, Michigan, Ottawa counties. Fruitport, Michigan
Fruitport is a village in Muskegon County in the U.S. state of Michigan. The population was 1,103 at the 2020 census. The community is located within Fruitport Charter Township. Water and sewer utilities are provided by Fruitport Charter Township. History Fruitport was founded by Edward L. Craw in 1868, who platted and named it "Crawville". It was renamed "Fruitport" a year later when the Pere Marquette Railroad built a station there, as the town was in the middle of a fertile fruit-growing area and also a port. It incorporated as a village in 1891. In an election on November 8, 2005, 306 residents voted unsuccessfully to dissolve the village municipal corporation, while 155 voted no, short of the two-thirds majority (308 votes) needed to dissolve the village. Wyoming is a city in Kent County in the U.S. state of Michigan. The population was 76,501 at the 2020 census. Wyoming is the second most-populated community in the Grand Rapids metropolitan area and is bordered by Grand Rapids on the northeast. Walker, Michigan
Walker is a city in Kent County in the U.S. state of Michigan. A suburb of Grand Rapids, Walker borders the city to the north and west. As of the 2020 census, the city had a population of 25,132. Walker was originally organized as Walker Township in 1837 and later incorporated as a city in 1962. It is home to the headquarters of Meijer and Bissell. Kentwood is a city in Kent County in the U.S. state of Michigan. The population was 54,304 as of the 2020 census. The city is bordered on the northwest by Grand Rapids and is the third most-populated municipality in the Grand Rapids metropolitan area.
