Michael Ryan (hurler, Born 1955)
Michael Ryan (born 9 August 1955) is an Irish former hurler and Gaelic footballer who played in various positions for The Nire–Fourmilewater club teams. In retirement from playing Ryan became involved in team management. As manager and selector of the Waterford, Laois and Dublin inter-county teams he has won seven All-Ireland. With the Ballymacarbry ladies' football team Ryan won multiple All-Ireland club titles, while he also gained a wealth of experience training various club teams in hurling. Ryan was the manager of the Waterford senior hurling team for the 2012 and 2013 seasons and took over as Westmeath senior hurling team manager in October 2014. Playing career Club Ryan played hurling with the Fourmilewater club and Gaelic football with the sister club called The Nire. The Nire–Fourmilewater GAA
The Nire—Fourmilewater GAA is a Gaelic Athletic Association club based in Ballymacarbry, County Waterford in Ireland. The Nire (''An Uidhir'') and Fourmilewater (''Caislean Cuanach'') are two separate clubs, with separate committees pulling from the same pool of players. The Nire is the Gaelic football club in the area and Fourmilewater the hurling club. Both teams play in the Mill Field, Ballymacarbry. The GAA Hurling All-Ireland Senior Championship, known simply as the All-Ireland Championship, is an annual Inter county, inter-county hurling competition organised by the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA). Westmeath County Hurling Team
The Westmeath county hurling team represents Westmeath in hurling and is governed by Westmeath GAA, the county board of the Gaelic Athletic Association. The team competes in the Joe McDonagh Cup and the National Hurling League. Westmeath's home ground is Cusack Park, Mullingar. Thurles Sarsfields is a Tipperary GAA club which is located in County Tipperary, Ireland. Both hurling and Gaelic football are played in the "Mid-Tipperary" divisional competitions. The Munster Senior Club Hurling Championship (known for sponsorship reasons as the AIB Munster GAA Hurling Senior Club Championship) is an annual hurling competition organised by the Munster GAA, Munster Council of the Gaelic Athletic Association since 1964 for the champion hurling teams in the province of Munster in Ireland.
