The 2015 Miami Beach mayoral election took place on November 3, 2015, to elect the mayor of Miami Beach, Florida. The election was held concurrently with various other local elections, and was officially nonpartisan. Mayor Philip Levine secured reelection with over 50% of the vote, avoiding a runoff. Philip Levine (politician)
Philip Louis Levine (born February 18, 1962) is an American businessman and politician who served as Mayor of Miami Beach from 2013 to 2017. A member of the Democratic Party, he was a candidate in the 2018 Florida gubernatorial election. Background Philip Levine was born in 1962 to a Jewish family in Boston, Massachusetts. They moved to South Florida when he was 10. He attended Attucks Middle School and Hollywood Hills High School in Hollywood, Florida. Levine headed north for college, graduating from the University of Michigan with a degree in Political Science. After college, he settled in Miami Beach, Florida. In addition to building a business career, he has been involved in many philanthropic and community organizations. In 2015, Levine completed an advanced leadership program at The Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University. In 2018, he married Carolina Murciano. Miami Beach is a coastal resort city in Miami-Dade County, Florida. It was incorporated on March 26, 1915. The municipality is located on natural and man-made barrier islands between the Atlantic Ocean and Biscayne Bay, the latter of which separates the Beach from the mainland city of Miami.
