Mercedes Trujillo Callealta (born 14 June 1974 in Cádiz, Spain), best known as Merche, is a Spanish singer. Early life When she was a child, she acted in school plays and wished to be a singer, and received her first guitar as a gift at age six. She finished school, high school and university, and became a music teacher. At this time she sang in an orchestra named Bahia Azul, and worked as a direction assistant in Astilleros de Cádiz. Rise to stardom In 2001, she participated as Luna in the Spanish national final for the Eurovision Song Contest with the song "No Pidas Mas Amor". She finished in sixth place, but signed with Vale Music and start to record her first album ''Mi Sueño''. Mi Sueño (Ibrahim Ferrer Album)
Ibrahim Ferrer (20 February 1927 – 6 August 2005) was a Cuban singer who played with the group Los Bocucos for nearly forty years. He also performed with Conjunto Sorpresa, Chepín y su Orquesta Oriental, and Mario Patterson. After his retirement in 1991, he was brought back in the studio to record with the Afro-Cuban All Stars and Buena Vista Social Club, in March 1996. He then toured internationally with these revival groups and recorded several solo albums for World Circuit, before his death in 2005. Early life Ferrer was born at a dance club in San Luis, near the city of Santiago de Cuba. His mother died when he was twelve, leaving him orphaned and forcing him to sing on the streets to earn money. Vicente Fernández Gómez (17 February 1940 – 12 December 2021) was a Mexican mariachi singer, actor and film producer. Sorrento Stakes
The Sorrento Stakes is a Grade III American Thoroughbred horse race for two-year-old fillies over a distance of six furlongs on the dirt track scheduled annually in August at Del Mar Racetrack in Del Mar, California. The event currently carries a purse of $150,000. History The event was inaugurated on 7 October 1967 during the then Del Mar Fall meeting and was run over a distance of furlongs on the turf course. It was won by Windsor Honey who was ridden by US Hall of Fame jockey Johnny Sellers with a time of 1:30. The event was idle for two years, and when it resumed the event was scheduled early in the summer meeting in 1970 and needed to be split into two divisions at a distance of six furlongs. The event has had several changes in distance but returned to the six furlong sprint in 2018. In 1986 the event was classified as Grade III and was upgraded to Grade II in 1994.
