Mexican Pacific League
The Mexican Pacific League (, or LMP), also known as the Liga ARCO Mexicana del Pacífico for sponsorship reasons, is a professional baseball Winter league baseball, winter league based in Northwestern Mexico. The league comprises 10 teams. It was founded in 1945. The league's champion takes part in the Caribbean Series each year. The sixty eight-game regular season is split in two halves. After each half, the teams are awarded points. The first place team earns ten points, while the last place team earns three and a half points. At the end of the regular season the total number of points are added up from both halves to determine playoff positioning. The top eight teams advance. There are no divisions. Caribbean Professional Baseball Confederation
The Caribbean Professional Baseball Confederation (), or CPBC, is the body responsible for organizing the Caribbean Series, an annual club baseball tournament contested by the winter league baseball champions of the Caribbean and Latin American region. Four professional winter leagues are full members of the CPBC, and various others have been invited to participate in the tournament. It also administers the Caribbean Baseball Hall of Fame. The CPBC is an independent organization, not affiliated with the World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC), which is otherwise recognized as the authority for international baseball tournaments. Guasave () is a city and the seat of the homonymous municipality known as the Agricultural Heart of Mexico (El Corazon Agricola de Mexico) in the Mexican state of Sinaloa. Algodoneros De Guasave
The Algodoneros de Guasave () are a professional baseball team in the Mexican Pacific League (LMP) based in Guasave, Sinaloa. They won the league championship in 1972. The original team was purchased in April 2014 by a group of investors led by Armando Navarro. The team was moved to Guadalajara and began play in the 2014-15 season as the third incarnation of the Charros de Jalisco. On January 27, 2019, during a rally at the Estadio Francisco Carranza Limón in Guasave, Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador announced that the Algodoneros would return to compete in the Mexican Pacific League beginning in the 2019–20 season as a new expansion franchise.
