Mercyhurst Lakers Men's Basketball
The Mercyhurst Lakers men's basketball team represents Mercyhurst University in Erie, Pennsylvania. Beginning on July 1, 2024, the Lakers will compete in the Division I Northeast Conference. Due to the NCAA's policy on reclassifying programs, the Lakers will not be eligible to compete in the NCAA tournament or the NIT until the 2028–29 season. Mercyhurst University
Mercyhurst University is a private Catholic university in Erie, Pennsylvania, United States. History On September 20, 1926, Mercyhurst College opened its doors just a few blocks away from the city's southern boundary. It was founded by the Sisters of Mercy of the Diocese of Erie, who were led by Borgia Egan, who became the first president of Mercyhurst College. The college received its charter on October 5, 1928. In 1963, the college prep department separated to form Mercyhurst Preparatory School, which is located behind the university. On February 3, 1969, the board of trustees voted to make Mercyhurst a coed college. From its foundation in 1926 until 1972, members of the Sisters of Mercy had been presidents of the college. The 2023 NCAA Division II men's basketball tournament was the single-elimination tournament to determine the annual national champion of men's NCAA Division II college basketball in the United States. The Hillsdale Chargers are the athletic teams that represent Hillsdale College, located in Hillsdale, Michigan, in NCAA NCAA Division II, Division II intercollegiate sporting competitions. The University of Charleston (UC) is a private university with its main campus in Charleston, West Virginia. It also has a location in Beckley, West Virginia, known as UC-Beckley. With a field of sixty-four teams, it was supposed to begin on March 16 and conclude with the championship game on April 5. As with the prior year's format, the eight regional winners would have met in the Elite Eight for the quarterfinal, semifinal, and championship rounds. The Northwest Missouri State Bearcats men's basketball team represents Northwest Missouri State University in Maryville, Missouri, in the NCAA Division II men's basketball competition.
