Mercyhurst Lakers Women's Ice Hockey
The Mercyhurst Lakers women's ice hockey team is a college ice hockey program representing Mercyhurst University in NCAA Division I competition as a member of the Atlantic Hockey America (AHA) NCAA Division I Women's Hockey conferences and teams, conference. They play in Erie, Pennsylvania at the Mercyhurst Ice Center, located on the Mercyhurst campus. The program was started in 1999 and Michael Sisti has been its only coach. From 2000 to 2002, the Lakers were part of the Great Lakes Women's Hockey Association (GLWHA). While in the Great Lakes Women's Hockey Association, the Lakers qualified for the GLWHA tournament twice – in 2001, and 2002. The Lakers were regular season champions in 2000–01 and 2001–02, and won the playoff championship in 2002. Patty Kazmaier Award
The Patty Kazmaier Memorial Award is given to the top female college ice hockey player in the United States. The award is presented during the women's annual ice hockey championship, the Frozen Four. The award was first presented in 1998. The award is named in honor of the late Patty Kazmaier-Sandt, a four-year varsity letter winner and All Ivy League honoree for the Princeton University women's ice hockey team from 1981 through 1986. She also played field hockey and lacrosse. She died on February 15, 1990, at the age of 28 from a rare blood disease. 2007–08 Mercyhurst Lakers Women's Ice Hockey Season
The 2007–08 Mercyhurst Lakers women's ice hockey team represented Mercyhurst College in the 2007–08 NCAA Division I women's ice hockey season. The Lakers were coached by Michael Sisti and had a 9-2-1 conference record. Assisting Sisti was Paul Colontino and Louis Goulet. Mike Folga was the Head Equipment Manager. Mercyhurst featured eight newcomers in 2007-2008 as the Lakers lost 10 players from the 2006–2007, 32-win team. Seven of those players were lost to graduation. North Dakota Fighting Hawks Women's Ice Hockey
The North Dakota Fighting Sioux women's ice hockey team was the college ice hockey team at the Grand Forks campus of the University of North Dakota. They were members of the Western Collegiate Hockey Association (WCHA) and competed in National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I women ice hockey. The program was cut by the University of North Dakota on March 29, 2017. History On October 5, 2010, North Dakota was ranked 10th in the Uscho.com poll. Jenna Silvonen
Jenna Silvonen (born 2 January 1999) is a Finnish retired ice hockey goaltender and former member of the Finnish national team. Her college ice hockey career was played with the Mercyhurst Lakers women's ice hockey program in the College Hockey America (CHA) conference of the NCAA Division I during 2019 to 2022. She represented Finland at the IIHF Women's World Championship tournaments in 2019, 2021, and 2022. Emma Nuutinen (born 7 December 1996) is a Finnish ice hockey forward. She plays in the Auroraliiga with Kiekko-Espoo. As a member of the Finnish national ice hockey team, she participated in the 2014 Winter Olympics and won a bronze medal at the 2018 Winter Olympics. Vilma Tanskanen (born 14 April 1995) is a Finnish retired ice hockey player. As a member of the Finnish national team, she won a bronze medal at the 2015 IIHF Women's World Championship and played in the 2016 IIHF Women's World Championship and the women's ice hockey tournament at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia.
