Men's Irish Hockey League
The Men's Irish Hockey League is a field hockey league organised by Hockey Ireland that features men's teams from both the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland. The league was first played for during the 2008–09 season. It replaced the All-Ireland Club Championships as the top level men's field hockey competition in Ireland. Since 2015–16 the league has been sponsored by Ernst & Young and, as a result, it is also known as the EY Hockey League. History Format The league was first played for during the 2008–09 season. Between 2008–09 and 2014–15 the league used pool stages and play-offs to determine the league champion. Teams were divides into two pools with the winners and runners-up in each pool then qualifying for the semi-finals. The league title was then decided by a final. Hockey Ireland
Hockey Ireland, previously known as the Irish Hockey Association, is the governing body for field hockey in both the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland. It is responsible for organising both the Ireland men's national field hockey team and the Ireland women's national field hockey team, as well as national leagues and cup competitions. Hockey Ireland is mainly funded through grants as well as small contributions from Sport Ireland, Sport Northern Ireland and the Olympic Council of Ireland. UCD Hockey Club
UCD Ladies' Hockey Club is a women's field hockey club in Dublin, Ireland, operating within University College Dublin. In addition to playing in Colours matches with Dublin University and competing in intervarsity tournaments, the club also enter teams in the Women's Irish Hockey League, the Irish Senior Cup and the Irish Junior Cup. During the 2010s UCD has emerged as one Ireland's strongest teams in women's field hockey, winning three Irish Hockey League titles and four Irish Senior Cups. UCD has also represented Ireland in the 2015 and 2018 EuroHockey Club Champions Cups. History Irish Senior Cup UCD first won the Irish Senior Cup in 1951, captained by Patricia Horne. St Columba's College is a co-educational independent day and boarding school founded in 1843 located in Whitechurch, County Dublin, Ireland. Among the founders of the college were Viscount Adare (who later became The 3rd Earl of Dunraven and Mount-Earl in 1850), William Monsell (who was later created The 1st Baron Emly in 1874), Dr William Sewell and James Henthorn Todd. The school is affiliated with the Church of Ireland and caters to 300+ pupils, aged 11 to 19. Alumni are organized in the Old Columban Society. Corinthian Hockey Club
Corinthian Hockey Club ( Irish: ''Club Haca Corantaigh'') is a field hockey club based at Saint Columba's College, Dublin, Ireland. In 2018–19 they became founder members of the new Division 2 in both the Men's Irish Hockey League and the Women's Irish Hockey League. The club's senior men also play in the Men's Irish Senior Cup while the senior women also play in the Women's Irish Senior Cup. Reserve teams play in the Men's Irish Junior Cup and the Women's Irish Junior Cup. Corinthian won the 2012 Men's Irish Junior Cup, defeating Cookstown in the final. Banbridge
Banbridge ( ) is a town in County Down, Northern Ireland. It lies on the River Bann and the A1 road and is named after a bridge built over the Bann in 1712. It is in the civil parish of Seapatrick and the historic barony of Iveagh Upper, Upper Half. The town began as a coaching stop on the road from Belfast to Dublin and thrived from Irish linen manufacturing. The town was home to the headquarters of the former Banbridge District Council. Following a reform of local government in Northern Ireland in 2015, Banbridge became part of Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council. It had a population of 17,400 in the 2021 census. Blackrock () is an affluent suburb of Dublin, Republic of Ireland, Ireland, northwest of Dún Laoghaire. Shane O'Donoghue (born 24 November 1992) is an Irish field hockey player who is Ireland's record goal scorer with 110 goals to date. He is the player-coach for his boyhood club Glennane and plays in the midfield for both Glenanne and the Irish national team. With the Irish national team, he competed at the 2016 Summer Olympics where he scored three goals. Glenanne Hockey Club is a field hockey club based in Dublin 24, South Dublin, Ireland. The club enters teams in the Men's Irish Hockey League, the Irish Senior Cup and the Irish Junior Cup. Glenanne has represented Ireland in European competitions. They won the 2008 EuroHockey Club Trophy and were European Cup Winners' Cup runners up in 2002.
