Memorial Museum Of Nadežda And Rastko Petrović
Memorial Museum of Nadežda and Rastko Petrović is a memorial museum located in Belgrade, the capital of Serbia. It was declared a cultural monument in 1974 by the decision of the Institute for the Protection of Cultural Monuments from 1974. Memorial Museum is located in a family house of the Belgrade artist Ljubica Luković, sister of Nadežda and Rastko Petrović. The house was built in the period from 1928 to 1935 as a typical house of the Professors' colony. Fixed assets consist of the house and the land around the house. The exhibition of the museum today consists of the rich legacy of the Petrović family, related to the life and work of Mito Petrović (1852–1911), writer and scholar, painter Nadežda Petrović (1873–1915) and writer Rastko Petrović (1898–1949), which was collected and donated to the National Museum in Belgrade by Ljubica Luković. Nadežda Petrović
Nadežda Petrović ( sr-Cyrl, Надежда Петровић; 11/12 October 1873 – 3 April 1915) was a Serbian painter and one of the women war photography pioneers in the region. Considered Serbia's most famous expressionist and fauvist, she was the most important Serbian female painter of the period. Born in the town of Čačak, Petrović moved to Belgrade in her youth and attended the women's school of higher education there. Graduating in 1891, she taught there for a period beginning in 1893 before moving to Munich to study with Slovenian artist Anton Ažbe. Between 1901 and 1912, she exhibited her work in many cities throughout Europe. In the later years of her life, Petrović had little time to paint and produced only a few works. In 1912, she volunteered to become a nurse following the outbreak of the Balkan Wars. She continued nursing Serbian soldiers until 1913, when she contracted typhus and cholera. Rastko Petrović
Rastko Petrović (1898–1949) was a Serbian poet and writer. After serving in the Serbian Army in World War I, he studied law in Paris and became a diplomat. Based at the Yugoslav embassy in Washington, D.C. during World War II, he remained in the United States after the war and died there in 1949. Ljubica Luković
Ljubica Luković () (1858–1915) was a Serbian nurse, social worker, teacher, translator and president of the Circle of Serbian Sisters. She was instrumental in establishing the first nurses' training course in Serbia and was posthumously awarded the Florence Nightingale Medal. Early life Ljubica Avramović was born in 1858 in Pančevo, Austrian Empire to the renowned professor and philologist, . The National Museum of Serbia () is the largest and oldest museum in Belgrade, Serbia.
