Melaleuca Lazaridis
''Melaleuca lazaridis'' is a plant in the myrtle family, Myrtaceae and is endemic to the Blackdown Tableland National Park in Queensland. (Some Australian state herbaria use the name ''Callistemon lazaridis''). It is a shrub with dark green leaves and red flowers spikes tipped with yellow. Description ''Melaleuca lazaridis'' is a shrub growing to tall with hard, fibrous bark. Its leaves are arranged alternately and are long, wide, flat, mostly narrow egg-shaped with a mid-vein and 9 to 29 branching veins. The flowers are arranged in spikes on the ends of branches that continue to grow after flowering and also on the sides of the branches. The spikes are in diameter with 25 to 60 individual flowers. The petals are long and fall off as the flower ages. There are 48-59 stamens in each flower with red to deep pink filaments and yellow anthers. Lyndley Craven
Lyndley Alan Craven (3 September 1945 – 11 July 2014) was a botanist who became the Principal Research Scientist of the Australian National Herbarium. Lyndley ("Lyn") Craven worked for the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation, CSIRO plant taxonomy unit of the New Guinea Survey Group, Division of Land Research and Regional Survey from 1964 to 1967. This was part of a unit that became the Australian National Herbarium, Centre for Australian National Biodiversity Research. Craven's duties included botanical support for land resources surveys. Frank Udovicic is an Australian botanist who specialises in molecular systematics and phytogeography. Career Udovicic completed his Bachelor of Science (Honours) at The University of Melbourne in 1990. In 1995 he completed his PhD at The University of Melbourne. Both his Honours and PhD focused on the molecular phylogeny of the Eucalypts under the supervision of Prof. Pauline Ladiges.
