McLaren 720S
The McLaren 720S is a sports car designed and manufactured by British automobile manufacturer McLaren Automotive. It is the second all-new car in the McLaren ''Super Series'', replacing the 650S beginning in May 2017. The 720S was launched at the Geneva Motor Show on 7 March 2017 and is built on a modified carbon monocoque, which is lighter and stiffer than the previous model, the 650S. Specifications The 720S is the first all-new car to be introduced by McLaren as a part of its new plan to launch 15 new cars into the market by 2022. The 720S according to McLaren is 91% new as compared to its predecessor. Engine The 720S features McLaren's new M840T engine which is an evolution of the M838T used in the 650S. McLaren M840T Engine
The McLaren M840T engine is a , 90-degree, twin-turbocharged, flat-plane V8 petrol engine, designed, developed and produced by McLaren, in partnership and collaboration with Ricardo, and introduced with their 720S sports car model, in 2017. It is an evolution of the M838T engine, introduced in 2011. Development McLaren bought the intellectual property rights to the Tom Walkinshaw Racing developed engine, itself based on the Nissan VRH engine architecture, which was designed for the IRL IndyCar Series but never raced. However, other than the bore and stroke, little of that engine remains in the M840T. Developed with help from Ricardo, the engine redlines at 8500 rpm, but 80% of the engine's torque is available as low as 2000 rpm. The McLaren 650S is a British sports car designed and manufactured by British automobile manufacturer McLaren Automotive. It was announced in February 2014 as a new model, but based on the existing McLaren MP4-12C, MP4-12C with 25% new parts, and was formally unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show#2014, 2014 Geneva Motor Show. The 650S shares the MP4-12C's carbon-fibre-reinforced polymer chassis, and is powered by the same 3.8-litre twin-turbocharged McLaren M838T engine, McLaren M838T V8 engine, but is now rated at and of torque.
