Matějská Pouť S Cyclone Roller Coaster
Cyclone roller coaster is a roller coaster in Prague, Czech Republic. It was part of the Amusement park at Prague Fairground#Fairs, Matějská pouť (St. Matthew's fun fair) from 1975 to 2018. The Cyclone, originally built in 1963 and a staple at the Výstaviště Praha fairgrounds since 1975, was removed in 2018 as part of urban revitalization plans. After seven years' absence it is set to reopen from 22 February to 15 April 2025. History and renovation The Cyclone, manufactured by the Italian company S.D.C. as one of their Galaxi, Galaxy models, has been a main attraction in Prague for over four decades. After its removal in 2018, the Štaubert family, who have maintained the coaster since its arrival in Prague, undertook an extensive restoration project. The entire structure was dismantled, cleaned, and rebuilt piece by piece, reinforcing key parts and upgrading certain sections to ensure safety. Výstaviště in Prague is an exhibition ground which is used for exhibitions, concerts and other cultural events, founded in 1891. It is located in Bubeneč near the metro station on Metro line C Nádraží Holešovice. Galaxi (also Galaxy) is the common name of a series of mass-produced roller coasters manufactured primarily by Italian company S.D.C, which went bankrupt in 1993. The roller coaster design was first used in the 1970s, and as of 2009, sixteen Galaxi coasters are still in amusement park, park-based operation, across the North American, European, and Australian continents, with another two "Standing But Not Operating". Amusement park in Prague (mostly known under the traditional name ''Lunapark'', which is a common name of amusement parks in Czech), is situated in the territory of the Prague Fairground Výstaviště Praha in Prague-Bubeneč, nearby Holešovice.
