A court show (also known as a judge show, legal/courtroom program, courtroom series, or judicial show) is a broadcast programming genre comprising legal dramas and reality legal programming. Court shows present content mainly in the form of legal hearings between plaintiffs (or claimants in the United Kingdom) and defendants, presided over in one of two formats: scripted/improvised with an Acting, actor portraying a judge; or, an arbitration-based reality format with the case handled by an adjudicator who was formerly a judge or attorney. Gregory Ellis Mathis (born April 5, 1960), also known as Judge Mathis, is an African-American former court judge for Michigan's Michigan's 36th House of Representatives district, 36th District, who is now a Television show, television court show arbitrator, author, television producer, and motivational speaker. Michigan District Courts
District courts are courts of limited jurisdiction in the State of Michigan. They were established by the Michigan Legislature, State Legislature in Act 236 of 1961 to consolidate the functions of several courts of limited jurisdiction such as traffic courts and municipal courts.
