Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association
The Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association (MIAA) is an organization that sponsors activities in thirty-three sports, comprising 374 public high school, public and private high school, private high schools in the U.S. state of Massachusetts. The MIAA is a member of the National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS), which writes the rules for most U.S. high school sports and activities. The MIAA was founded in 1978, and was preceded by both the Massachusetts Secondary School Principals Association (MSSPA) (1942–1978) and the Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Council (MIAC) (1950–1978). MIAA Sports Sports and Seasons Girls wrestling gained MIAA status in 2011. Rugby union in the United States, Rugby became the MIAA's 35th sport in 2016, following a 2015 MIAC vote that passed by a wide majority. The Town of Franklin is a city in Norfolk County, Massachusetts, United States. The Greater Boston League (GBL) is a high school athletic conference in District B of the Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association. The league originally included teams from the cities and towns of Arlington, Cambridge Cambridge ( ) is a List of cities in the United Kingdom, city and non-metropolitan district in the county of Cambridgeshire, England. Lynn English High School
Lynn English High School (LEHS) is a public high school located at 50 Goodridge Street in the eastern section of Lynn, Massachusetts, United States. It is a part of Lynn Public Schools, and the largest school in the Lynn school system. The name "Lynn English High School" comes from the Boston area secondary education practice of establishing an English secondary school to provide working-class students with curriculum designed to prepare for entry into the workforce directly from high school. Walpole High School
Walpole High School (WHS) is a four-year public high school in Walpole, Massachusetts, United States, within Norfolk County. The school educates students grades 9 through 12 and is the only high school in the Walpole Public School district. As of 2013, the school has about 1,300 students and over 90 faculty and staff members. The campus is located one mile from downtown Walpole on Common Street. Field Hockey
Field hockey (or simply referred to as hockey in some countries where ice hockey is not popular) is a team sport structured in standard hockey format, in which each team plays with 11 players in total, made up of 10 field players and a goalkeeper. Teams must move a hockey ball around a field by hitting it with a field hockey stick, hockey stick towards the rival team's shooting circle and then into the goal (sports), goal. The Tri-Valley League or TVL is a high school athletic league located in towns in Middlesex and Norfolk counties, Massachusetts. The league was founded in 1966 by principals and Alfred “Hap’’ Mazukina, who served as the league's commissioner for 23 years. In its infancy the TVL struggled but over the years has undergone changes and is now regarded more than 50 years later as one of the most respected high school sports leagues in Massachusetts. The league's name is based on the geography of the area, the river valleys of the Charles River, Blackstone River and Taunton River all converge in the region. Hockomock League
The Hockomock League is an interscholastic high school athletic league located in Southeastern Massachusetts, founded in 1932. The league took its name from a historic, freshwater swamp which served as a fortress for the Wampanoag native tribe during the King Philip’s War. The Wampanoags revered the area, naming it, “Hockomock,” an Algonquin word meaning, “Place where spirits dwell.” Today, the Hockomock Swamp is a protected environmental area and many local businesses, agencies and organizations use the Hockomock moniker to refer to their association with this region. Bay State Conference
The Bay State Conference (BSC) is an interscholastic high school athletic league located in Norfolk County, Massachusetts, Norfolk County and Middlesex County, Massachusetts, Middlesex County of Massachusetts. The Bay State Conference is named after the nickname of Massachusetts which is the Bay State. As of 2024-2025, the Bay State Conference consists of 10 member schools. The Catholic Conference is a Massachusetts high school athletic conference whose member institutions are located primarily in Eastern part of Massachusetts. Its nine members include only all-boys and all-girls Catholic high schools.
