Maryland Route 195
Maryland Route 195 (MD 195) is a state highway in the U.S. state of Maryland. Known as Carroll Avenue, the state highway runs from Eastern Avenue at the District of Columbia boundary in Takoma Park north to MD 193 in Silver Spring. MD 195 is the main north–south state highway through Takoma Park in southeastern Montgomery County. The highway provides access to Washington Adventist University and Washington Adventist Hospital and crosses Sligo Creek on the Carroll Avenue Bridge. The state highway was constructed from Washington, D.C. to Silver Spring in the late 1920s on a road that has existed since the 19th century. The Carroll Avenue Bridge was built in 1932 as the third bridge at the site. Reconstruction of the bridge began in 2015 and was completed in 2017. Interstate 195 (I-195) is an Interstate highway in the U.S. state of Maryland. The highway runs from I-95 in Arbutus east to MD 170 near the Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport (BWI Airport) in Linthicum. I-195, which is also known as Metropolitan Boulevard, is the main connection between the airport terminal and highways leading to Baltimore, Washington, and Annapolis, including I-95, MD 295, and I-97. The interchange with MD 170, which forms part of the Airport Loop, provides access to various airport-related services. Takoma Station
Takoma is a Washington Metro station on the Red Line in the Takoma Park neighborhood of Washington, D.C., bordering Takoma Park, Maryland. The station is considered to be located in part of Takoma Park's Historic District. It is the last station in the District of Columbia on the eastern end of the Red Line heading to Maryland, located east of the intersection of Blair Road NW and Cedar Street NW. Maryland Route 320
Maryland Route 320 (MD 320) is a state highway in the U.S. state of Maryland. Known as Piney Branch Road, the highway runs from Eastern Avenue at the District of Columbia boundary in Takoma Park north to MD 650 in Adelphi. MD 320 is a southwest–northeast highway that connects Takoma Park and Silver Spring in southeastern Montgomery County with Adelphi in far western Prince George's County. The state highway originally extended from downtown Silver Spring to White Oak and connected with U.S. Route 29 (US 29) at both ends. The Silver Spring–Adelphi portion of the highway was constructed by 1910. Davis-Warner House
Davis-Warner House is an historic home located at 8114 Carroll Avenue, Silver Spring, Montgomery County, Maryland. It is a large, three story frame Queen Anne style residence constructed about 1875. It is one of the oldest residences around Takoma Park, and one of the only surviving Stick–Eastlake style examples left in the Washington D.C., area. It was built by John B. and Vorlinda Davis, who also operated a small store on nearby University Boulevard (then called "Old Bladensburg Road"). Background In the early 20th century it was used as a gambling hall and speakeasy, then from 1940 until 1987, it housed the private "Cynthia Warner School," serving the educational needs of thousands of children of Takoma Park families from elementary through the high school level. Sligo Creek Trail is a paved hiker-biker trail running along Sligo Creek in the suburbs of Washington, D.C. Most of the trail passes through tree-filled parkland. Sligo Creek Parkway
Sligo Creek Parkway is a two-lane at-grade automobile parkway in Montgomery County in the U.S. state of Maryland. The two-lane parkway runs from Maryland Route 650 (MD 650) in Takoma Park through Silver Spring north to MD 193 in Maryland.
