Woolwich is a suburb on the Lower North Shore of Sydney, in the state of New South Wales, Australia. Woolwich is located 11 kilometres north-west of the Sydney central business district, in the local government area of the Municipality of Hunter's Hill. Woolwich sits on the peninsula between the Lane Cove River and the Parramatta River, jutting out from Hunters Hill. History The suburb's name is derived from its namesake Woolwich, by the banks of the Thames in London. Parramatta River had been known as the 'Thames of the Antipodes' and other nearby suburbs were also named after Thames localities of Greenwich, Putney and Henley. ''Home and Away'' (often abbreviated as ''H&A'') is an Australian television soap opera. It was created by Alan Bateman and commenced broadcast on the Seven Network on 17 January 1988. Marie-Françoise Perroton (7 February 1796 – 10 August 1873), a French nun, was a pioneer of the Missionary Sisters of the Society of Mary in the Pacific. She was the first single female missionary to arrive in the Pacific. Biography Marie-Françoise Perroton was born in Lyon, France on 7 February 1796. She completed her education in a boarding school run by the Dames Caillot, where she later joined as an assistant teacher. She was associated with the Society for the Propagation of the Faith founded by Pauline Jaricot in 1822, where Perroton involved in fundraising for the missions. In an open letter, the women of the Island of Wallis appealed to the women of Lyons asking for women teachers. This letter was widely published. Marcellin Joseph Benedict Champagnat (20 May 17896 June 1840), also known as Saint Marcellin Champagnat, was born in Le Rosey, village of Marlhes, near St. Etienne ( Loire), France. He was the founder of the Marist Brothers, a religious congregation of brothers in the Catholic Church devoted to Mary and dedicated to education. His feast day is 6 June, his death anniversary. Early life When Jean-Claude Colin’s parents married in 1771 his father Jacques was 24 years old, and his mother Marie Gonnet was not yet 14.
