Mario Fernández Pelaz
Mario Fernández Pelaz (4 November 1943 – 10 December 2024) was a Spanish lawyer and politician. A member of the Basque Nationalist Party and Eusko Alkartasuna, he served as Deputy Lehendakari from 1982 to 1985, as Basque Minister of Labour from 1980 to 1984, and was a member of the Basque Parliament from 1984 to 1986. Fernández died in Las Arenas Areeta (''Las Arenas'' in Spanish) is a neighbourhood of Getxo (Biscay, Basque Country (autonomous community), Basque Country, Spain). Biscay (, ) is one of the three constituencies () represented in the Basque Parliament, the regional legislature of the Basque Country (autonomous community), Basque Autonomous Community. The constituency currently elects 25 Deputy (legislator), deputies. Its boundaries correspond to those of the Spanish province of Biscay. Eusko Alkartasuna Party Politicians
The eusko is a local currency released by the non-profit organization "Eusko Moneta erakundea", and is one of a number of currencies that are active in the Basque Country. It is mainly used in the Northern Basque Country, France, with plans to extend its use to certain areas of Upper Navarre and Gipuzkoa in the Southern Basque Country. The currency was created on 31 January 2013. As of 2025, with 4.3 million euskos in circulation, it is the biggest local currency in Europe.
