Mariano Ferreira Filho (born 23 June 1986), simply known as Mariano, is a Brazilian professional footballer who plays as a right-back for América Mineiro. He rose to prominence at Fluminense, where he made 165 appearances across three years, and was named in the Bola de Prata and Prêmio Craque do Brasileirão teams when they won the Campeonato Brasileiro Série A in 2010. He then moved to Europe and represented Bordeaux, Sevilla and Galatasaray, winning the 2015–16 UEFA Europa League with the second. Mariano Azuela González (January 1, 1873 – March 1, 1952) was a Mexican writer and medical doctor, best known for his fictional stories of the Mexican Revolution of 1910. He wrote novels, works for theatre and literary criticism. He is the first of the "novelists of the Revolution," and he influenced other Mexican novelists of social protest. Among Azuela's first published writing were some short pieces for the magazine ''Gil Blas Cómico'', where he wrote under the pen name of "Beleño", and his writing published under the heading ''Impresiones de un estudiante'' (''Impressions of a Student'') in 1896. Mariano Duncan Nalasco (born March 13, 1963) is a Dominican former second baseman and shortstop who played for the Los Angeles Dodgers, Cincinnati Reds, Philadelphia Phillies, New York Yankees, and Toronto Blue Jays of Major League Baseball and the Yomiuri Giants of Nippon Professional Baseball during his 12-year career. Mariano Fernández Bermejo (born 1948) is a Spanish jurist and politician, who served as justice minister of Spain from 2007 to 2009. Early life and education Bermejo was born in Arenas de San Pedro, Ávila, in 1948. He holds a PhD in law, which he obtained from Complutense University in Madrid in November 1969. Mariano Armellino (1657–1737) was a Benedictine abbot and historian. Life He was born in Rome or Ancona. At the age of twenty he entered the monastery of St. Paul in Rome, whence he was sent to Monte Cassino to complete his studies. From 1687 to 1695 he taught philosophy at various monasteries of the Cassinese Congregation. From 1697 to 1722 he devoted himself to preaching and became famous throughout Italy for his Lenten sermons. In 1722 Pope Innocent XIII appointed him abbot of the monastery at Siena; in 1729 he was transferred as abbot to the Monastery of St. Peter at Assisi, and in 1734, to the Monastery at St. Felician, near Foligno.
