Marc-Pascal De Sales Laterrière
Marc-Pascal de Sales Laterrière (; March 25, 1792 – March 29, 1872) was a Quebec doctor, seigneurial system of New France, seigneur and political figure. He was born in Baie-du-Febvre, Quebec, Baie-du-Febvre, Lower Canada in 1792, the son of Pierre de Sales Laterrière who became the seigneur of Les Éboulements. Laterrière studied at the Petit Séminaire of Quebec and went on to study medicine in Philadelphia. He served as surgeon with the militia during the War of 1812 and set up practice in Lower Town, Quebec City until 1816. Laterrière then returned to Les Éboulements to take on his responsibilities as seigneur. He married Eulalie-Antoinette, the daughter of merchant Claude Dénéchau. Sir Charles Alphonse Pantaléon Pelletier, (January 22, 1837 – April 29, 1911) was a Canadian lawyer, militia officer, politician, publisher, judge, and the ninth Lieutenant Governor of Quebec. Biography Born in Rivière-Ouelle, Lower Canada (now Quebec), the son of Jean-Marie Pelletier and Julie Painchaud, he studied law at the Université Laval, was called to the bar in 1860 and entered practice in Quebec City. He married Suzanne, the daughter of lawyer Charles-Eusèbe Casgrain in 1861; his wife died during childbirth the following year. In 1862, he joined the Canadian Militia as an officer with the Voltigeurs de Québec. A Captain by 1863, he became a major with the 9th Battalion Volunteer Militia Rifles and saw active service with the battalion in 1866 during the Fenian Raids and retired from the militia in 1867. The Legislative Council of the Province of Canada () was the upper house for the Province of Canada, which consisted of the former provinces of Lower Canada, then known as Canada East and later the province of Quebec, and Upper Canada, then known as Canada West and later the province of Ontario. It was created by Act of Union (1840), The Union Act of 1840. With the lower house, the Legislative Assembly of the Province of Canada, the two houses constituted the Parliament of the Province of Canada. Saguenay (Province Of Canada Electoral District, 1841)
Saguenay was an electoral district of the Legislative Assembly of the Parliament of the Province of Canada, in Canada East (now Quebec). It was to the north-east of Quebec City. Saguenay was created in 1841 and was based on the previous electoral district of the same name for the Legislative Assembly of Lower Canada. It was represented by one member in the Legislative Assembly. In 1853, the provincial Parliament redrew the electoral map. As part of the redistribution, the 1841 district of Saguenay was divided into three new districts, initially called Saguenay, Chicoutimi, and Tadousac electoral districts. Those districts were used in the general elections of 1854. In 1855, the provincial Parliament passed further amendments to the electoral map, and re-named the new Saguenay electoral district to be the Charlevoix electoral district.
