Manatí Bridge At Mata De Plátano
Manatí Bridge at Mata de Plátano, also known as Puente Juan José Jiménez and listed as Bridge #321 in Puerto Rico's bridge inventory, was built in 1905 in Hato Viejo, Ciales, Puerto Rico. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1995 and on the Puerto Rico Register of Historic Sites and Zones in 2001. It was the first truss bridge built in Puerto Rico under the administration of the United States (1898–1900) after the Spanish–American War. The bridge spans above the Río Grande de Manatí. For Puerto Rico, the span is high, above the river, "above a spectacular curving canyon of vertical walls traversed by the Manati River". It is a rare type of bridge: a steel double intersection Pratt truss, above a concrete substructure, and is the only such highway bridge in Puerto Rico. Puerto Rico Highway 6685 (PR-6685) is a rural highway in Puerto Rico that runs south to north, connecting the towns of Ciales and Manatí on Puerto Rico's north coast. Cambalache Bridge
Cambalache Bridge or is a bridge built in 1893 which spans the Río Grande de Arecibo from Cambalache barrio to Tanamá barrio in Arecibo. It is located 100 meters west of Puerto Rico Highway 2, at kilometer 72. Like all bridges of the , the steel to build it was imported from France. The train section from San Juan to Arecibo was completed in 1891, but it was not until 1893 that the Cambalache Bridge, spanning the river, was completed. Before the opening of the Cambalache Bridge, the train ended at Cambalache and passengers and cargo had to cross a temporary wooden bridge on horse or by ox cart. Hato Viejo is a barrio in the municipality of Ciales, Puerto Rico. Its population in 2010 was 2,442. Hato Viejo has more than a dozen sectors, a historic bridge, and folklore about a boy and a cave. History Hato Viejo was in Spain's gazetteers until Puerto Rico was ceded by Spain in the aftermath of the Spanish–American War under the terms of the Treaty of Paris of 1898 and became an unincorporated territory of the United States.
