''Mademoiselle's Chauffeur'' (French: ''Le chauffeur de Mademoiselle'') is a 1928 French silent comedy film directed by Henri Chomette and starring Dolly Davis, Jim Gérald and Alice Tissot. Plot In this French comedy, Dolly Davis plays the role of "Dolly". Dolly, a mannequin used by dressmakers, marries penniless artist Albert Prejean, but they soon learn that two cannot live as cheaply as one. Dolly goes to see her rich, misogynistic aunt Alice Tissot in the hopes of raising some much-needed money. André Roanne (born André Albert Louis Rahou; 22 September 1896, in Paris – 4 September 1959, in Cannes) was a French actor. He began his career playing in short films, and acted in 91 films in total, most notably those of Fernandel. Most of his films were French; he did, however, also appear in German and Italian works, especially co-productions with French companies. Gaston Modot (31 December 1887 – 20 February 1970) was a French actor. For more than 50 years he performed for the cinema working with a number of great French directors. Biography Modot lived in Montmartre at the beginning of the 20th century where he met Picasso and Modigliani. In 1909 he started his career with Gaumont and for the following 20 years he covered all silent film genres. In 1917 he was the main actor in Abel Gance's '' Mater dolorosa''. He played in Germaine Dulac and Louis Delluc's avant-garde films ''La fête espagnole'' (1919) and ''Fièvre'' (1921). With Max Linder, Modot played in Abel Gance's ''Au secours!'' (1924). Albert Préjean (; 27 October 1894 – 1 November 1979) was a French actor, primarily in film. He served in World War I, and was decorated with the Croix de Guerre and the Legion of Honour. With Lysiane Rey, he was the father of Patrick Préjean, and grandfather of Laura Préjean. Biography Préjean shot his first five films with French director Henri Diamant-Berger between 1921 and 1923. The roles he played tended to embody the leading man for the people, generous and strong.
