MTV Live (Canadian TV Program)
''MTV Live'' is a Canadian half-hour music television program that aired from March 21, 2006 to October 31, 2012 as the flagship show of MTV Canada. The program began as an interactive talkshow where viewers were encouraged to jump into the conversation. It is the successor to the talktv program ''The Chatroom''. The show won the 2008 Gemini Award for "Best Talk Series". After beginning as a show that featured performances, interviews, stories on musicians, and focused on music, the show has become dedicated to focusing on its hosts, with little musical content. The show has become more of variety style comedy show, including the introduction of new "internet style" skits. The show now sometimes features live musical performances by a variety of artists of different genres and success levels, though is decidedly committed to being a 26-minute show on what the hosts do and think. Nicole Holness
Nicole Holness (born April 13, 1984) is a Canadian television host and R&B singer. Between 2002 and 2005, she was part of the girl group X-Quisite alongside Melanie Fiona and Nirvana Savoury. Early life Born in Toronto, Holness is of Guyanese, Indigenous Canadian, Scottish and West Indian background. She is fluent in French and Tagalog and attended Cedarbrae Collegiate Institute. She has experience in ballet and jazz dance. Career X-Quisite In 2002, Holness became part the R&B girl group X-Quisite alongside Melanie Fiona and Nirvana Savoury. MuchMusic
Much is a Canadian English language discretionary specialty channel owned by BCE Inc. through its Bell Media subsidiary that airs programming aimed at teenagers and young adults. It is headquartered at 299 Queen Street West in what was once called the MuchMusic World Headquarters. This channel was originally launched on August 31, 1984 as MuchMusic, under the ownership of CHUM Limited, the owner of Citytv Toronto, though "Much" has been the branding most commonly seen on-air since 1997. In 2006, Bell Globemedia acquired MuchMusic and its parent CHUM Limited, but regulatory limits in media ownership forced CHUM to sell off the Citytv stations to avoid conflicts with CTV stations in the same markets. A montage ( ) is a film editing technique in which a series of short shots are sequenced to condense space, time, and information. Montages enable filmmakers to communicate a large amount of information to an audience over a shorter span of time by juxtaposing different shots, compressing time through editing, or intertwining multiple storylines of a narrative. The term has varied meanings depending on the filmmaking tradition. In French, the word applied to cinema simply denotes editing. In Soviet montage theory, as originally introduced outside the USSR by Sergei Eisenstein, it was used to create symbolism. Later, the term "montage sequence", used primarily by British and American studios, became the common technique to suggest the passage of time. Fucked Up
Fucked Up is a Canadian hardcore punk band from Toronto, Ontario, formed in 2001. The band consists of guitarists Mike Haliechuk and Josh Zucker, bassist Sandy Miranda, lead vocalist Damian Abraham and drummer Jonah Falco. Sharlene Chiu is a Canadian television reporter, host, and producer. Sharlene is most known as a Reporter/Producer on MTV News Canada and Host/Producer/Creator of SHARLENE VS. ''American Gladiators'' is an American competition television program that aired weekly in syndication from September 1989 to May 1996. The series matched a cast of amateur athletes against each other, as well as against the show's own "gladiators", in contests of strength and agility. Following the success of ''American Gladiators'', other countries began to produce their own versions of the show. Background and history The concept was originally created in 1982 by Johnny C.
