M5 (Copenhagen Metro)
M5 is a planned line of the Copenhagen Metro that is set to open in 2035. It will run from Copenhagen Central Station via Amagerbrogade to Refshaleøen and Lynetteholm. The line will encompass ten stations, of which five will be new. There will be a possibility of expanding the line with three more stations. The project has completed an environmental impact assessment and has received approval from the authorities. Amagerbrogade
Amagerbrogade is the main shopping street and thoroughfare of the part of Copenhagen, Denmark that is located on the island of Amager. It begins at the end of the causeway which connects Amager to Christianshavn and the city centre on the other side of the harbour, and runs south until it reaches the municipal border with Tårnby where it continues as Amager Landevej. The street marks the border between Amager Vest and Amager Øst, two of the ten official districts of Copenhagen. Amagerbrogade arose when the country road leading in and out of Copenhagen's Amager Gate was urbanized towards the end of the 18th century after the city's old fortifications had been decommissioned and the no-built zone outside them released. Refshaleøen, Copenhagen
Refshaleøen is a former industrial site in the harbor of Copenhagen, Denmark, originally on a separate island but now annexed to the larger island of Amager. For more than a hundred years, it was home to the shipyard Burmeister & Wain, which closed in 1996. History In 1624, a block house was built on the original island, then much smaller, to guard the entrance to Copenhagen harbor together with St. Ann's Fortress (now Kastellet, Copenhagen, Kastellet) on the coast just north of city. Land reclamation, Reclamation increased the size of the island considerably in the 1870s when the port's waterways were made deeper. Burmeister & Wain established a shipyard on the island in 1871. At its height, the shipyard employed 8,000 people, and so appears as an icon of Danish Industry, Danish industrial history. Bryggebroen
Bryggebroen () is one of the new bicycle/pedestrian bridges in Copenhagen inner harbour and is a combined pedestrian and bicyclist bridge directed east-west. The bridge is joined to ''Kalvebod Brygge'' and Cykelslangen bridge (west) and ''Islands Brygge'' (east) and thus connects Vesterbro on Zealand and Amager. The bridge has become a popular place for attaching love padlocks. The bridge which opened to public on 14 September 2006 is wide, divided by a pedestrian path and cycling path and constructed as a swing bridge to allow larger sailing vessels to pass. The name of the bridge was among the suggestions in a naming project organized by the Danish daily ''Politiken'' in which more than 200 suggestions were submitted. The name ''Bryggebroen'' was elected by the newspaper as the winner because it connects the two quays (lit.: ''brygger'') ''Islands Brygge'' and ''Kalvebod Brygge''. Østerport Railway Station
Østerport station is a Copenhagen metro, metro, S-train and main line (railway), main line railway station in Copenhagen, Denmark. It is located between the Districts of Copenhagen, districts of Indre By and Østerbro, and is named for the historic Østerport (Copenhagen), Østerport city gate, near the original location of which it is located. The station is served by some InterCity services across Denmark, regular and frequent regional train services to and from Zealand and southern Sweden, as well as commuter rail services on the S-train network.
