A satellite tornado is one that revolves around a larger, primary tornado and interacts with the same mesocyclone. A tornado is a violently rotating column of air that is in contact with both the surface of the Earth and a cumulonimbus cloud or, in rare cases, the base of a cumulus cloud. Clayton, New Mexico
Clayton is a town and county seat of Union County, New Mexico, United States. As of the 2010 census, the city population was 2,980. History Early History Native Americans were present in the area of Clayton for at least 10,000 years, as evidenced by the findings at the Folsom site about 55 miles northwest of Clayton, near the village of Folsom. March 1997 Tornado Outbreak
The March 1997 tornado outbreak was a major tornado outbreak that struck portions of the central and southern United States on March 1–2, 1997. Affecting areas mostly from Arkansas to Kentucky, the outbreak produced 58 tornadoes, including three violent (F4) tornadoes, and killed at least 27 people, including 25 in Arkansas alone and one death each in Mississippi and Tennessee. This was Arkansas' deadliest tornado outbreak since May 15, 1968, when 34 were killed in Jonesboro. Severe flooding also occurred across the Ohio and Tennessee Valleys, resulting in 16 Ohio counties and 44 Kentucky counties being declared disaster areas. The flash floods and damaging wind elsewhere caused 34 deaths across six states including 19 in Kentucky, five in Ohio, five in Tennessee, two in Texas and three in West Virginia. March 1990 Central United States Tornado Outbreak
The March 1990 Central United States tornado outbreak affected portions of the United States Great Plains and Midwest regions from Iowa to Texas from March 11 to March 13, 1990. The outbreak produced at least 64 tornadoes across the region, including four violent tornadoes; two tornadoes, which touched down north and west of Wichita, Kansas, were both rated F5, including the tornado that struck Hesston. In Nebraska, several strong tornadoes touched down across the southern and central portion of the state, including an F4 tornado (possibly a family of tornadoes) that traveled for making it the longest tracked tornado in the outbreak. Castleton is an Unincorporated area, unincorporated community in Reno County, Kansas, United States. It is located northeast of Pretty Prairie, Kansas, Pretty Prairie between Castleton Road and North Fork Ninnescah River. Jordan, Iowa
Jordan is an unincorporated community in Boone County, Iowa, United States. History Jordan was historically called Midway and Harmon's Switch. The present name is after the Jordan River. Jordan was not officially platted. Jordan's population was 12 in 1902, and 26 in 1925. Jordan was hit by a massive tornado on June 13, 1976. The tornado was rated an F5 by the National Weather Service, and the National Centers for Environmental Information (then called National Climatic Data Center) indicated that the damage path of the tornado was roughly or wide and long.
