Ski Resort
A ski resort is a resort developed for skiing, snowboarding, and other winter sports. In Europe, most ski resorts are towns or villages in or adjacent to a ski area – a mountainous area with pistes (ski trails) and a ski lift system. In North America, it is more common for ski areas to exist well away from towns, so ski resorts usually are destination resorts, often purpose-built and self-contained, where skiing is the main activity. Ski resort Ski resorts are located on both Northern and Southern Hemispheres on all continents except Antarctica. They typically are located on mountains, as they require a large slope. They also need to receive sufficient snow (at least in combination with artificial snowmaking, unless the resort uses dry ski slopes). Gosau
Gosau is a municipality in the district of Gmunden in Upper Austria, Austria. Location Gosau is situated along the Gosaubach stream in the Salzkammergut region. The center of the town is at an elevation of 767m (2,516'). 58.9% of the municipality is forested. At the southern end of Gosau there is a road leading to the Vorderer Gosausee, a lake with a view of the Dachstein. Gosau is one of the few Lutheran communities in Austria, with about 71% of the population being Lutheran. History The valley around Gosau was settled in the 13th century by monks from St. Peter's Abbey in Salzburg. Timber production for the salt mine in Hallstatt was a major industry. Dachstein West
Hoher Dachstein () is a strongly karstic mountain in central Austria and the second-highest mountain in the Northern Limestone Alps. It is situated at the border of Upper Austria and Styria, and is the highest point in each of those states. Parts of the massif also lie in the state of Salzburg, leading to the mountain being referred to as the ''Drei-Länder-Berg'' ("three-state mountain"). The Dachstein massif covers an area of around with dozens of peaks above 2,500 m, the highest of which are in the southern and southwestern areas. Annaberg-Lungötz
Annaberg-Lungötz is a municipality in the district of Hallein, in the Austrian state of Salzburg. Geography The municipality lies in the Lammer River valley at the foot of the Gosaukamm. Hochkar (1,808 m) is a mountain and a ski area located from Vienna. Located near the small resort of Göstling an der Ybbs on the Steiermark and Lower Austria border, it is popular among skiers who want to leave Vienna for a day, being about a two-hour drive away. Peca (mountain)
Petzen (German) or Peca ( Slovene) is the highest mountain of the eastern Karawanks, the second-highest mountain of the Northern Karawanks and the most eastern two-thousand-metre mountain of Slovenia. It is a mighty mountain with a characteristic shape of a tableland with rocky peaks protruding from it. The mountain borders the Meža Valley and the Topla Valley to the south and east, and the Jaun Valley to the north, and is separated by the narrow valley of the Bela Creek from Hochobir.
