Kimbell Art Museum
The Kimbell Art Museum in Fort Worth, Texas, hosts an art collection as well as traveling art exhibitions, educational programs and an extensive research library. Its initial artwork came from the private collection of Kay and Velma Kimbell, who also provided funds for a new building to house it. The building was designed by architect Louis I. Kahn and is widely recognized as one of the most significant works of architecture of recent times. It is especially noted for the wash of silvery natural light across its vaulted gallery ceilings. History Kay Kimbell was a wealthy Fort Worth businessman who built an empire of over 70 companies in a variety of industries. He married Velma Fuller, who kindled his interest in art collecting by taking him to an art show in Fort Worth in 1931, where he bought a British painting. They set up the Kimbell Art Foundation in 1935 to establish an art institute, and by the time of his death in 1964, the couple had amassed what was considered to ...

The Rommelpot Player
''The Rommelpot Player'' is a painting by the Dutch Golden Age painter Frans Hals, painted in 1618-1620 and now in the Kimbell Art Museum. It is considered the best of several versions of a Rommelpot player by Frans Hals. Painting Fifteen versions of this painting were documented by Hofstede de Groot in 1910, who wrote:The Rommelpot- Player. In the centre is a man turned three-quarters left. He faces the spectator and laughs heartily. He is in dark clothes with a broad brimmed felt hat. His left forearm encircles the rommelpot (a type of drum traditionally consisting of an earthenware pot covered at the top by a bladder pierced by a stick that is pushed up and down or rotated); in his right hand is a stick with which he plays it. Six laughing children surround him. The biggest boy, behind him to the right, claps his hands with delight. The other five children are to the left. Four of them are placed so that their heads make a diagonal line down to the left. The second boy from th ...

Museum Schloss Wilhelmshöhe
A museum ( ; plural museums or, rarely, musea) is a building or institution that cares for and displays a collection of artifacts and other objects of artistic, cultural, historical, or scientific importance. Many public museums make these items available for public viewing through exhibits that may be permanent or temporary. The largest museums are located in major cities throughout the world, while thousands of local museums exist in smaller cities, towns, and rural areas. Museums have varying aims, ranging from the conservation and documentation of their collection, serving researchers and specialists, to catering to the general public. The goal of serving researchers is not only scientific, but intended to serve the general public. Portrait Of A Woman Standing (Kassel)
''Portrait of a Woman Standing (Kassel)'' is a painting by the Dutch Golden Age painter Frans Hals, painted in 1618–1620 and now in Gemäldegalerie Alte Meister (Kassel). It is considered a pendant portrait to the ''Portrait of a Man Standing'', in the same museum. Painting Similar to Hals' ''Portrait of a Woman Standing'' in Chatsworth House, this woman is wearing a wedding ring on her right forefinger, a figure-eight collar and lace wrist collars over sleeves that match her bodice, and a heavy gold chain draped through a vlieger over a wheel-shaped fardegalijn. Her diadem cap lacks wings however and is more similar to the cap worn by Hals's Catholic sitter Catharina Both-van der Eem and by his brewer Aletta Hannemans. Despite the coat-of-arms, this sitter remains unidentified and her portrait was documented by Hofstede de Groot in 1910, who wrote:374. PORTRAIT OF A WOMAN STANDING. B. 100. She looks about thirty years of age. Three-quarter-length. She is turned three-quarters ...
