Vorarlberg
Vorarlberg ( , ; gsw, label= Vorarlbergisch, Vorarlbearg, , or ) is the westernmost state () of Austria. It has the second-smallest geographical area after Vienna and, although it also has the second-smallest population, it is the state with the second-highest population density (also after Vienna). It borders three countries: Germany (Bavaria and Baden-Württemberg via Lake Constance), Switzerland ( Grisons and St. Gallen), and Liechtenstein. The only Austrian state that shares a border with Vorarlberg is Tyrol, to the east. The capital of Vorarlberg is Bregenz (29,698 inhabitants), although Dornbirn (49,845 inhabitants) and Feldkirch (34,192 inhabitants) have larger populations. Dornbirn
Dornbirn () is a city in the westernmost Austrian state of Vorarlberg. It is the administrative centre for the district of Dornbirn, which also includes the town of Hohenems, and the market town Lustenau. Dornbirn is the largest city in Vorarlberg and the tenth largest city in Austria. It is an important commercial and shopping centre. Geography Location Dornbirn is located at 437 metres above sea level in the Alpine Rhine Valley, at the foot of the Karren mountain, part of the Bregenz Forest Mountain chain at the edge of the Eastern Alps. Riefensberg is a municipality in the district of Bregenz in the westernmost Austrian state of Vorarlberg. The community of Riefensberg covers an area of 14.85 square kilometers. Juppenwerkstatt Riefensberg
The Juppenwerkstatt Riefensberg is a craft workshop and museum in Riefensberg in Vorarlberg (Austria). It is a non-profit association that pursues the goal of maintaining and caring for the Vorarlberg costumes, especially the Bregenz Forest women's costumes. It is the only manufacture in the Bregenz Forest that still produces the Bregenzerwälder tracht in the traditional way. The Juppenwerkstatt is also the point of contact when it comes to assessing, appraising or mediating already used traditional costumes or accessories. The Jewish Museum Hohenems ( German: ''Jüdisches Museum Hohenems'', abbreviation JMH) is a regional museum in Hohenems in the Austrian state of Vorarlberg. The museum deals with the Jewish presence in Hohenems as well as surrounding regions. It also covers the Diaspora and Israel and puts the future of the European immigration society into focus. The destruction of the Jewish community of Hohenems via expulsion and deportation – see '' Antisemitism in Austria'' – and the Shoah are one of the museum's main topics. The inatura – Nature Experience (German: ''Inatura – Erlebnis Naturschau Dornbirn'') is an interactive natural history museum in Dornbirn, Vorarlberg (Austria). It originated in 2003 from the former "Vorarlberger Naturschau" and was set up on former factory premises in the new Dornbirn City Gardens. History The inatura is one of three Vorarlberg state museums. It is the largest and conceptually most modern natural science museum in the Lake Constance region. Rankweil
Rankweil is a town in the westernmost Austrian state of Vorarlberg, in the district Feldkirch. It is the second largest town in the district Feldkirch and the eighth largest town in Vorarlberg. Geography Rankweil is located in the southern Rhine Valley. Its largest river is the Frutz, from which the ''Mühlbach'' was channeled off through the town for utilization by ten hydroelectric plants. Schoppernau
Schoppernau is a town in the Bregenzerwald Region (Bregenz district) of the Austrian state of Vorarlberg. Schoppernau has an area of 47.64 km2. Population History Until the 10th century, Schoppernau seems to have been pristine forest. Schoppernau and Au were the last villages to be settled in the Bregenzerwald. Early on, the land in and around Schoppernau was probably used primarily as pastureland for sheep. The surrounding terrain was probably used as pastureland for sheep, as the name ("Schappernouw" = Schafau = sheep meadow or mead) indicates. The neighboring village of Au showed similar developments. FLATZ Museum
The FLATZ Museum is a contemporary art museum in Dornbirn, Vorarlberg (Austria). The museum dates back to an oeuvre donation to the city of Dornbirn from the action artist FLATZ (Wolfgang Flatz, *1952, Dornbirn). The opening took place in 2009 by the former " documenta" director Jan Hoet. It shows changing exhibitions designed by international guest curators with a focus on photographic art, organises readings, lecture series, discussions and performances. Damüls
Damüls is a village community and popular tourist resort in the district of Bregenz in the westernmost Austrian state of Vorarlberg. Damüls is known for its abundance of snow. In 2006, Damüls was awarded the honorary title "the snowiest village in the world". Population Geography Damüls is situated at an altitude of 1,430 m. It has an area of 20.92 km². It borders on the Bregenz Forest, the Biosphere Reserve Großes Walsertal, the Laternsertal, and all other Vorarlberg districts (Bludenz, Feldkirch and Dornbirn). The most famous mountain peak in the area, a popular hiking destination from Damüls, is the Damülser Mittagsspitze (2,095 m). FIS Skimuseum Damüls
The FIS Skimuseum Damüls is a skiing museum located in Damüls in Vorarlberg (Austria). It is accommodated in the ''Kulisse Pfarrhof'' and displays exhibitions about local history and winter sports. After the exhibition was completely redesigned in the summer of 2017, it was certified by the International Ski Federation (FIS) and remains Vorarlberg’s only FIS ski museum. The building The Damüls parsonage is located prominently, directly below the church of St. Nikolaus in Damüls and had been empty for several years. On the basis of an initiative of Christian Lingenhöle, the two buildings (house and stable) were adapted accordingly and opened after minor alterations in the summer of 2013 as "Kulisse Pfarrhof".
