Johannes Steen
Johannes Wilhelm Christian Steen (22 July 1827 - 1 April 1906) was a Norwegian statesman and educator who served as the 6th prime minister of Norway from 1891 to 1893 and from 1898 to 1902. Background He was born in Christiania (now Oslo, Norway). He grew up in Vesteraalen as the son of John Svaboe Steen (1798– 1872), a judge and member of Parliament, and Christine Fleischer (1805–1851). His brother Frederik Steen was also a member of Parliament. He took his examen artium at Tromsø in 1844. From 1844, he was a student at the University of Christiania and received his cand.philol. in 1848. Over the next 42 years, Steen combined his profession as teacher and educationist with a political career. He served as a teacher in Bergen (1850–55) and Tromsø (1855–1866). Adam Egede Nissen
Adam Hjalmar Egede-Nissen (29 June 1868 – 4 April 1953), was a Norwegian postmaster and politician, began his political career in the Liberal Party and was first elected to the Storting (parliament) in 1900. He later switched to the Labour Party before eventually joining the Communist Party of Norway, serving as party chairman from 1934 to 1946. Life and work Parents Adam Hjalmar Egede-Nissen was born on an Øvre Rinnan farm at Frol (today part of Levanger) in Nord-Trøndelag, where his father Paul Christian Egede-Nissen (1835–1891) was then serving in the medical corps of the Norwegian Army. Having qualified as a medical doctor in 1858 and having been active as a military physician in the Italian liberation struggle led by Giuseppe Garibaldi, by 1863 Paul Egede-Nissen was practicing medicine in Tromsø; in 1867 he was a commissioned officer with the rank of major and was a regimental surgeon stationed with the army at Levanger. Oddmund Vik
Oddmund Jakobsen Vik (19 April 1858 – 12 February 1930) was a Norway, Norwegian politician for the Liberal Party of Norway, Liberal Party. He was born in Vik i Øystese as the son of farmer Jakob Larsen Vik (1828–1925) and his wife Magnhild Nilsdotter Laupsa (1828–1914). He graduated from the teacher's college at Stord in 1877, and worked as a teacher in Sund, Norway, Sund in 1878, at Sagatun folk high school the next year, in Telemark from 1879, in Askov from 1882 and Andebu from 1884 to 1888. In 1885 he wrote a piece in ''Dagbladet'', "Fra Ekserserpladsen Tvildemoen", which was seen as anti-military agitation. He was sentenced to 40 days in prison by a military court; the sentence was upheld by the Supreme Court of Norway, Supreme Court. He was also ordered to pay Norwegian krone, NOK 100 in costs. Jonas Schanche Kielland (20 November 1863 – 1 June 1925) was a Norwegian judge and politician. Family He was born in Horten to Jacob Kielland and his wife Thora Margrethe (1827–1902), née Bendz. Hans Lindahl Falck (19 March 1863 – 1937) was a Norwegian ship-owner and politician. He was born in Stavanger as a son of Thomas Scheen Falck, Sr. (1829–1889) and Anna Lindahl (1842–1921). He was a brother of consul Christian Fredrik Falck. In 1890 he married Karen Johanne Poulsson. Their son Thomas Scheen Falck, Jr. became a notable ship-owner. Falck took commercial education in Germany, England, France and the United States. He then started a career in the family company ''Ths. S. Falck'' in 1888, and advanced to co-owner in 1889. Falck was elected as a deputy representative to the Parliament of Norway from ''Stavanger og Haugesund'' during the term 1895–1897. Andreas Meling
Andreas Meling (22 September 1839 – 8 August 1928) was a Norwegian ship owner and politician. Biography He was born in Sola, Norway, Sole as a son of bailiff Enok Torgersen and Elen Røgh Skavlan. In 1864 he married Lina Monsen, whose brother was a locally known painter and sister married Peter Hærem. Meling was a shipmaster for much of his career, until 1881.
