List Of Foreign Liga I Players
This is a list of foreign players in the Liga I, which commenced play in 1909. The following players must meet both of the following two criteria: #Have played at least one Liga I game. Players who were signed by Liga I clubs, but only played in lower league, cup and/or European games, or did not play in any competitive games at all, are not included. #Are considered foreign, i.e., outside Romania determined by the following: ::''A player is considered foreign if he is not eligible to play for the national teams of Romania.'' More specifically, *If a player has been capped on international level, the national team is used; if he has been capped by more than one country, the highest level (or the most recent) team is used. These include Romanian players with dual citizenship. Liga I
The Liga I (; ''First League''), also spelled as Liga 1, is a Romanian professional league for men's association football clubs. Currently Sponsor (commercial), sponsored by betting company Superbet, it is officially known as the SuperLiga. It is the country's top Romanian football league system, football competition, being contested by 16 clubs which take part in a promotion and relegation system with the Liga II. The teams play 30 matches each in the regular season, before entering the championship play-offs or the relegation play-outs according to their position in the regular table. The Liga I was established in 1909 and commenced play for the 1909–10 Divizia A, 1909–10 campaign, being currently on the 29th place in UEFA's UEFA coefficient#League coefficient, league coefficient ranking list. FC Petrolul Ploiești
Asociația Clubul Sportiv Petrolul 52, commonly known as Petrolul Ploiești () or simply as Petrolul, is a Romanian professional football club based in Ploiești, Prahova County, which competes in the Liga I. Founded in 1924 in capital Bucharest as ''Juventus'', following the merger of ''Triumf'' and ''Romcomit'', it won its first league championship in the 1929–30 season. In 1952 the team was relocated north to the city of Ploiești, and five years later settled on the name of Petrolul. Shortly after, it achieved three more national titles—in 1957–58, 1958–59 and 1965–66. Domestically, its honours also include three national cups, the latest in the 2012–13 campaign. Fotbal Club Progresul București, commonly known as Progresul București or simply as Progresul, was a Romanian football club based in Bucharest. The team was founded in 1944 as ''B.N.R. București'', being the team of the National Bank of Romania (B.N.R.). Albert Duro (born 16 February 1978) is an Albanian former footballer. Duro is a former Albanian international and played for Romanian top division club Steaua București and Național București. He is the younger brother of Klodian Duro who was also a footballer. Dashnor Dume
Dashnor Dume (born 17 September 1963) is an Albanian former footballer and coach. Club career Dume played most of his club career in Albania representing hometown club Naftëtari Qyteti Stalin as well as local rivals Tomori Berat and Bylis Ballsh, and also had a brief spell in Romania with Oțelul Galați alongside compatriot Altin Masati. Dume was part of Bylis Ballsh's golden days, helped the club reach Europe for the first time in their history, and they were tied against Slovakian side FK Senica, whom they lost to 5–1 on aggregate, with Dume captaining the team in both games. Sulejman Demollari
Sulejman Demollari (born 15 May 1964 in Tirana) also known as Sul Demollari is an Albanian former football player and coach. Playing career Early life Demollari was born in Albania's capital Tirana, where he was raised as a child and where he completed his primary education. He studied at the Qemal Stafa High School, in Tirana, Albania. From a young age he was part of 'KF Vojo Kushi', which was a sports institution. Despite still being in school, Demollari had impressed many football specialists and was quickly picked to play for Dinamo Tirana's youth team where he managed to become one of the best players on the team. At the age of just 15 he was called up to play for Dinamo's senior team, alongside fellow midfield legends such as Ilir Përnaska, Shyqyri Ballgjini and Muhedin Targaj. FC Steaua București
FC Steaua București was a Romanian professional football club of which two current entities are claiming the records. The original ''FC Steaua București'' team was part of the namesake CSA Steaua București sports club and belonged to the Ministry of National Defence. In 1998, the club and facilities were separated from the sports club and taken over by a group of shareholders in a post-Ceaușescu privatisation scheme, allegedly leading to one of the shareholders (Gigi Becali) acquiring full ownership five years later. However, CSA Steaua București sued the football club in 2011, claiming that this was a new entity; the two have since been in a legal conflict regarding the ownership of the Steaua brand and honours, which resulted in multiple court cases and the forced change of the name of ''FC Steaua București'' to FCSB in early 2017. Agim Canaj
Agim Canaj (born 14 July 1962) is an Albanian football coach and former international player. As of March 2019, he is coaching Vllaznia Shkodër. Club career As a player, he played with Dinamo Tirana in the European Cup Winners' Cup 1989–90. A soon as Albanians were free to leave the country after the end of the communist era, Canaj moved abroad to play alongside compatriot Arbën Minga in Romania for FC Brașov. International career Canaj made his debut for Albania in a March 1991 UEFA Euro 1992 qualification match against France, which remained his only cap. Fotbal Club Brașov (), commonly known as FC Brașov, or simply as Brașov, was a Romanian professional football club based in the city of Brașov, Brașov County, founded in 1936 and dissolved in 2017. Originally founded as ''Uzinele Astra Brașov'', the team amassed 41 seasons in the top flight of Romania. Ilir Bozhiqi
Ilir Bozhiqi (born 22 May 1965 in Qyteti Stalin) is an Albanian retired footballer who played as a goalkeeper for Dinamo Tirana. Club career Bozhiqi started his career with hometown club Naftëtari Qyteti Stalin, before moving to Dinamo Tirana, with whom he won two league titles and two Albanian cups in six years. He played in the infamous promotion/relegation playoff match in Qyteti Stalin against his former club Naftëtari in June 1988, which ended in riots and burning of the Dinamo team bus and led to the suspension of Naftëtari from playing football for a year. He was the first foreign goalkeeper to play in the Romanian football. He transferred from Dinamo Tirana to FC Brașov in 1991, where he stayed for four seasons, before moving to another Romanian team Tractorul Braşov in 1995. Club Sportiv LPS HD Clinceni, commonly known as Clinceni and formerly known as ''Academica Clinceni'' is a Romanian amateur football club based in Clinceni, Ilfov County, currently playing in the Liga IV - Ilfov County. In the summer of 2022 former ''Academica Clinceni'' went bankrupt, but the club was refounded as LPS HD (Liceul cu Program Sportiv Helmuth Duckadam) Clinceni.
