Academic Journal
An academic journal or scholarly journal is a periodical publication in which scholarship relating to a particular academic discipline is published. Academic journals serve as permanent and transparent forums for the presentation, scrutiny, and discussion of research. They nearly-universally require peer-review or other scrutiny from contemporaries competent and established in their respective fields. Content typically takes the form of articles presenting original research, review articles, or book reviews. The ''Journal of Environmental Engineering'' is a monthly engineering journal published by the American Society of Civil Engineers. The main editor is Dionysios D. Dionysiou of University of Cincinnati. The journal presents broad interdisciplinary information on the practice and status of research in environmental engineering science, systems engineering, and sanitation. MDPI (Multidisciplinary Digital Publishing Institute) is a publisher of open access scientific journals. Renewable energy is energy that is collected from renewable resources that are naturally replenished on a human timescale. It includes sources such as sunlight, wind, the movement of water, and geothermal heat. Although most renewable energy sources are sustainable, some are not. For example, some biomass sources are considered unsustainable at current rates of exploitation. Renewable energy often provides energy for electricity generation to a grid, air and water heating/cooling, and stand-alone power systems. Renewable energy technology projects are typically large-scale, but they are also suited to rural and remote areas and developing countries, where energy is often crucial in human development.
