List Of Prime Ministers Of Cuba
This article lists the heads of government of Cuba from 1940 until the present day. Between 1940 and 1976 (under the 1940 Constitution), the role of the head of government was performed by the Prime Minister of Cuba. Between 1976 and 2019 (under the 1976 Constitution), the position of Prime Minister was abolished and replaced by the President of the Council of Ministers. On 24 February 2019 (under the 2019 Constitution), the position of Prime Minister was restored. On 21 December 2019, Manuel Marrero Cruz was appointed as the new Prime Minister. Manuel Antonio De Varona
Manuel Antonio de Varona y Loredo (November 25, 1908 in Camagüey, Cuba – October 29, 1992 in Miami, Florida, United States) was a Cuban lawyer and politician. Career Varona is 7th Prime Minister of Cuba in 1948–1950, and served as president of the Cuban Senate from 1950 to 1952. In 1960, Varona went into exile after denouncing Castro's communist regime. He was a member of the exile coalition Cuban Revolutionary Council (1961–1964). He had three children: Carlos de Varona Segura who participated in the April 17th Bay of Pigs Invasion, Emelina Ivette, and Ivonne de Varona Ruisanchez. Osvaldo Dorticós Torrado (17 April 1919 – 23 June 1983) was a Cuban politician who served as the president of Cuba from 1959 to 1976. Emilio Núñez Portuondo (September 13, 1898, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, U.S. – August 19, 1978, in Panama City, Panama) was a Cuban politician, lawyer, and diplomat.
