This is a list of Methodist denominations (or list of Methodist connexions) including those affiliated with the World Methodist Council, as well as those which are not, the latter of which have been indicated with an asterisk. The denominations' relative sizes are not evident from this list. The list may not be comprehensive, but intends to be an accessible overview of the diversity and global scope of contemporary Methodism. This list also includes some united and uniting churches with Methodist participation. Some denominations may not have an exclusively Wesleyan heritage. World Methodist Council
The World Methodist Council (WMC), founded in 1881, is a consultative body and association of churches in the Methodist tradition. It comprises 80 member denominations in 138 countries which together represent an estimated 80 million people; this includes approximately 60 million committed members (of Methodist and united and uniting churches) and a further 20 million adherents. It is the fifth-largest Christian communion after the Roman Catholic Church, Eastern Orthodox Church, Anglican Communion, and World Communion of Reformed Churches (see list of denominations by membership). United Church In Zambia
The United Church in Zambia is the largest Protestant church in Zambia with coverage of all the ten provinces of the country The church formed on 16 January 1965, this is a result of the union of Church of Central Africa, Rhodesia (a mission work of the Church of Scotland), the Union Church of Copperbelt, the Copperbelt Free Church Council, the Church of Barotseland and the Methodist church. The Free Methodist Church (FMC) is a Methodist Christian denomination within the holiness movement, based in the United States. It is evangelical in nature and is Wesleyan–Arminian in theology. Church Of North India
The Church of North India (CNI) is the dominant united Protestant church in northern India. It was established on 29 November 1970 by bringing together the Protestant churches working in northern India. It is a province of the worldwide Anglican Communion and a member of the World Methodist Council and the World Communion of Reformed Churches. The merger, which had been in discussions since 1929, came eventually between the Church of India, Pakistan, Burma and Ceylon ( Anglican), the United Church of Northern India, ( Congregationalist and Presbyterian), the Methodist Church, Disciples of Christ denominations.
