This is a list of German exonyms for places in Croatia. The entire territory that belongs today to the Republic of Croatia, was governed by Austria-Hungary until 1918, and some Hungarian exonyms became common in German, and have been used interchangeably with the German exonym for a period. These Hungarian names are noted below. Additionally, parts of these territories ruled by Austria-Hungary were formerly governed by the Republic of Venice, the Republic of Ragusa, and the Kingdom of Italy, and Italian names also migrated to German usage; these names are also noted. Not included are translations of non-proper nouns, names spelled the same, and names respelled to match German pronunciation rules. Bogatić
Bogatić ( sr-cyr, Богатић, ) is a town and municipality located in the Mačva District of western Serbia. As of 2011 census, it has 28,843 residents. Geography Bogatić is located in the western part of Serbia. The nearest large settlement is Šabac, Mačva's administrative center, located 24.5 kilometers to the east. Its distance from the capital, Belgrade, is 99.7 kilometers. Bogatić is located along the northwestern part of the fertile and rich lands in Mačva. Two rivers flow through the town: the Drina from the west and the Sava from the north. Bogatić holds large amounts of groundwater underneath. The population heavily relies on their water supply from underground sources. A river network gravitates towards the town via the Sava, giving it the appearance of a fan with a knot when seen at Šabac. Đakovo
Đakovo (; hu, Diakovár) is a town in the region of Slavonia, Croatia. Đakovo is the centre of the fertile and rich Đakovo region ( hr, Đakovština ). Etymology The etymology of the name is the gr, διάκος (diákos) in Slavic form đak (pupil). The Hungarian ''diák'' word has the same Greek origin and as such it's uncertain whether the name came directly from Greek or via Hungarian or local Slavic form. History In Roman antiquity the settlement ''Certissia'' stood on the same spot until it disappeared during the Migration Period. The settlement's first mention in historical documents dates from 1239 when Béla IV of Hungary granted it to the Diocese of Bosnia ( la, Dioecesis Bosniensis), and the Bishop moved his seat here in 1246. Črnotiče
Črnotiče () is a settlement near Črni Kal in the City Municipality of Koper in the Littoral region of Slovenia. It includes the hamlets of Na Placu ( sl, Na placu) near St. Paul's Church, Na Vršiču () in the center of the settlement, and lower-lying Na Križcah (). History Archaeological finds have been discovered south of the settlement, near the church dedicated to Our Lady of the Snows. A defense wall against Ottoman attacks is also located at the site.
