The year 2009 saw the release of many films. Seven made the top 50 list of highest-grossing films. Also in 2009, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced that as of that year, their Best Picture category would consist of ten nominees, rather than five (the first time since the 1943 awards). The Squeakquel
''Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel'' is a 2009 American live-action/computer-animated jukebox musical comedy film directed by Betty Thomas, written by Jon Vitti, Jonathan Aibel and Glenn Berger, and produced by Janice Karman and Ross Bagdasarian Jr.. The second installment in its live-action film series and the sequel to ''Alvin and the Chipmunks'' (2007), the film stars Zachary Levi, David Cross and Jason Lee. Justin Long, Matthew Gray Gubler and Jesse McCartney return as the Chipmunks from the previous film. Amy Poehler, Anna Faris and Christina Applegate voice the new characters, the Chipettes. Greg DePaul is an American playwright and screenwriter, best known for the romantic comedy ''Bride Wars''. Biography DePaul grew up in Maryland and graduated from NYU. Fox 2000 Pictures was an American film production company within The Walt Disney Studios. It was a sister studio of the larger film studio 20th Century Fox and Fox Searchlight Pictures specializing in producing independent films in mid-range releases that largely targeted underserved groups. The company dissolved on May 14, 2021 following the release of '' The Woman in the Window'' on Netflix, and the acquisition of 21st Century Fox by The Walt Disney Company on March 20, 2019.
