Lilah Yasin
Dato' Lilah bin Yasin (born 26 March 1958) is a Malaysian politician. He was the member of the Negeri Sembilan State Legislative Assembly for Palong (2013-2018), Serting (1995-2008) and Batu Kikir (1986-1995). From 2008 to 2013 he was the Member of the Parliament of Malaysia for the Jempol constituency in Negeri Sembilan. He is a member of the United Malay National Organisation (UMNO) party in the governing Barisan Nasional coalition. In addition, Lilah used to be a member of the State Executive Council of Negeri Sembilan, and held the State Assembly seat of Serting until 2008. Includes results from the 2004 election. Results from earlier elections are not available. He was elected to federal Parliament in the 2008 election, winning the seat of Jempol. In 2013 he returned to the Negeri Sembilan State Assembly, winning the seat of Palong, while the former Negeri Sembilan Chief Minister Mohd Isa Abdul Samad assumed UMNO's nomination for Jempol. Malay Titles
The Malay language has a complex system of styles, titles and honorifics which are used extensively in Brunei, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, and the southern Philippines. Brunei, Malaysia, Singapore and several provinces in Indonesia regularly award honorary and life titles. What follows in this article is specific to the Malaysian system. New Straits Times
The ''New Straits Times'' is an English-language newspaper published in Malaysia. It is Malaysia's oldest newspaper still in print (though not the first), having been founded as ''The Straits Times'' on 15 July 1845. It was relaunched as the ''New Straits Times'' on 13 August 1974. The paper served as Malaysia's only broadsheet format English-language newspaper. However, following the example of British newspapers ''The Times'' and ''The Independent'', a tabloid version first rolled off the presses on 1 September 2004 and since 18 April 2005, the newspaper has been published only in tabloid size, ending a 160-year-old tradition of broadsheet publication. Dewan Rakyat
The Dewan Rakyat (English: 'House of Representatives'; ) is the lower house of the bicameral Parliament, the federal legislature of Malaysia. The chamber and its powers are established by Article 44 of the Constitution of Malaysia. The Dewan Rakyat sits in the Houses of Parliament in Kuala Lumpur, along with the Dewan Negara, the upper house. The Dewan Rakyat is a directly elected body consisting of 222 members known as Members of Parliament (MPs). Members are elected by first-past-the-post voting with one member from each federal constituency. Members hold their seats until the Dewan Rakyat is dissolved, the term of which is constitutionally limited to five years after an election. 2008 Malaysian General Election
A general election was held on Saturday, 8 March 2008 for members of the 12th Parliament of Malaysia. Voting took place in all 222 parliamentary constituencies of Malaysia, each electing one Member of Parliament to the Dewan Rakyat, the dominant house of Parliament. State elections also took place in 505 state constituencies in 12 out of 13 states (excluding Sarawak) on the same day. The 11th Parliament was dissolved on 13 February 2008, and the following day, the Election Commission announced nominations would be held on 24 February, with general polling set for 8 March.
