Lucius Scribonius Libo
Several men of plebeian status were named Lucius Scribonius Libo during the Roman Republic and Roman Empire; they were members of the ''gens'' Scribonia. L. Scribonius Libo (praetor 204 BC) Lucius Scribonius Libo was a tribune of the plebs in 216 BC, during the Second Punic War. A question arose pertaining to the ransoming of Roman captives; he referred the matter to the Senate. He was one of the three men appointed '' triumviri mensarii'', a commission created by a ''Lex Minucia'', possibly to deal with a shortage of silver; the full range of their financial activities is unclear. He was ''praetor peregrinus'' in 204 and sent to Cisalpine Gaul. L. Scribonius Libo (tribune 149 BC) Lucius Scribonius Libo was tribune of the plebs in 149 BC. He accused Servius Sulpicius Galba for the outrages against the Lusitanians he committed during his governorship. He might have been the Scribonius who consecrated the Puteal Scribonianum often mentioned by ancient writers, which was located in t ...

Lucius Julius Libo
Lucius Julius Libo ( 267–266 BC) was a Roman senator and military commander. He was Roman consul, consul in 267 BC, together with Marcus Atilius Regulus (consul 267 BC), Marcus Atilius Regulus. During their term of office, the two men carried on a successful war against the Messapii, Sallentini, a Messapian language, Messapian people of Salento, Apulia, and also conquered the city of Brundisium. In recognition of their victory, Libo and Regulus were granted a Roman triumph, triumph, which they celebrated on 23 January 266. Although the patrician Julia gens, Julii had been a prominent family of the early Roman Republic, Libo is the only member of the clan to appear in history since the Roman dictator, dictatorship of Gaius Julius Iulus (dictator 352 BC), Gaius Julius in 352 BC. For modern scholars, Libo probably represents a genealogical link between the Julii of the early Republic and the Julii Caesares, who flourished from the time of the Second Punic War to early Roman Empire, ...

Marcus Annius Libo
Marcus Annius Libo was a Roman Senator active in the early second century AD. Life Libo came from the upper ranks of the Roman aristocracy. He was the son of Marcus Annius Verus, consul III in 126, and Rupilia Faustina. Annius Verus was Spanish of Roman descent. Rupilia was the daughter of Lucius Scribonius Libo Rupilius Frugi Bonus and Vitellia (daughter of emperor Vitellius). Libo is known to have had three siblings, two sisters and one brother. His elder sister was the Empress Faustina the Elder (mother of the Empress Faustina the Younger) and his younger sister (whose name is missing, but surmised to be ''Annia'') was the wife of Gaius Ummidius Quadratus Sertorius Severus, suffect consul in 118. Marcus Livius Drusus Libo
Marcus Livius Drusus Libo was an ancient Roman consul of the early Roman Empire. He was the son of Lucius Scribonius Libo by an unknown wife and adopted brother of Roman empress Livia. His natural paternal aunt was Scribonia, the second wife of Augustus, as a consequence of which he was a maternal first cousin of Julia Caesaris. Biography He is believed to have been adopted by Marcus Livius Drusus Claudianus, the father of Livia Drusilla, who was the third wife of Augustus. However, as a result of his 'L.f.' filiation attested in Book 54 of the ''Roman History'' of Cassius Dio, it is believed that his adoption was only testamentary (whereby the adoptee is permitted to use, and therefore carry on, the name of the adoptor). The career of Marcus Livius Drusus Libo is largely unknown, except that he was ordinary consul in 15 BC with Lucius Calpurnius Piso. Livius Drusus served as an aedile in 28 BC, shortly before the Pantheon in Rome was completed. Historian Pliny the Elder men ...

Marcus Scribonius Libo Drusus
Marcus Scribonius Libo Drusus (died 13 September 16) was a Roman accused of treason against the emperor Tiberius. Biography Early life He was likely the son or paternal grandson of Marcus Livius Drusus Libo (adopted brother of empress Livia). It is also possible that he was Marcus Livius nephew whom was adopted. Libo Drusus was regarded as a fatuous young man, who had tastes for absurdities. Trial Along with his brother Lucius Scribonius Libo, he was accused of conspiring against the Roman Emperor Tiberius. This included asking a fortune-teller if he would be rich enough to pave the Via Appia, as far as Brundisium or Brindisi with money. Tacitus described the accusations against Libo as 'preposterous' and 'pointless'. The two men were tried in a senatorial court by the Emperor Tiberius. At the trial, Marcus was ill and pleaded for mercy. A maternal relative, Publius Sulpicius Quirinus, defended them and appealed to the Emperor. Tiberius told him to apply to the senate. Tiberiu ...
