Leo De Kroo
Leo de Kroo (born 8 July 1941) is an Australian pop and country music singer, and an accomplished luthier. For much of the 1960s he was a regular performer on ''Bandstand'', a pop music TV show, hosted by Brian Henderson. De Kroo was one half of The De Kroo Bros (with his friend Doug Brewer who later changed his surname to de Kroo so they could take the stage name, as well as travel overseas, under the name of "The De Kroo Bros"). As The De Kroo Bros, they also appeared on other pop music shows. Early life De Kroo moved from Dordrecht, Netherlands to Western Australia after a few years living in Indonesia. Scarborough is a coastal suburb of Perth, Western Australia, located approximately 14 km northwest of the city centre in the City of Stirling local government area. The Graham Kennedy Show
''The Graham Kennedy Show'' was an Australian talk show which debuted on 19 September 1972 on the Nine Network. On 23 December 1969, host Graham Kennedy quit as host of ''In Melbourne Tonight'' due to exhaustion and rested for two years. In spite of his fame and fortune, he later described that period as "years of misery". After specials on 15 November 1971 and 2 March 1972, he returned with this series. Kennedy sparked controversy after a "crow-call", which sounded like the word "fuck", was broadcast in March 1975 (see below). Forced to prerecord from that point on, he abruptly departed following GTV-9's censorship of the 16 April 1975 edition. Australia's Amateur Hour
''Australia's Amateur Hour'' was an important early Australian radio and television program in the form of a talent contest, which was broadcast from 1940 to 1958, which also aired briefly on television from 1957 to 1958. The radio version was originally compered by radio producer Harry Dearth, then by Dick Fair, and finally by Terry Dear (1913-1995). It was a popular, long-running program on which many performers appeared. The television version was compered by Terry Dear, and ran from August 1957 to February 1958. It aired on the Nine Network (TCN-9) and the Seven Network (HSV-7). The success of the radio version didn't translate to television, with the television version closing after only seven months, and the radio version shortly thereafter. A bandstand (sometimes music kiosk) is a circular, semicircular or polygonal structure set in a park, garden, pier, or indoor space, designed to accommodate musical bands performing concerts. A simple construction, it both creates an ornamental focal point and also serves acoustic requirements while providing shelter for the changeable weather, if outdoors. In form bandstands resemble ornamental European garden gazebos modeled on outdoor open-sided pavilions found in Asian countries from early times. The Everly Brothers
The Everly Brothers were an American rock duo, known for steel-string acoustic guitar playing and close harmony singing. Consisting of Isaac Donald "Don" Everly (February 1, 1937 – August 21, 2021) and Phillip "Phil" Everly (January 19, 1939 – January 3, 2014), the duo combined elements of rock and roll, country, and pop, becoming pioneers of country rock.
