Lech Am Arlberg
Lech am Arlberg is a mountain village and an exclusive ski resort in the Bludenz district in the westernmost Austrian state of Vorarlberg, on the banks of the river Lech. In terms of both geography and history, Lech belongs to the Tannberg district. In touristic terms, however, it is part of the Arlberg region. Lech is administered together with the neighbouring villages of Zürs, Zug, Oberlech and Stubenbach. The municipality is an internationally known winter sports resort on the Arlberg mountain range and caters to wealthier clientele, particularly to the international jet set and foreign royalty. The Dutch royal family and Russian oligarchs regularly ski there. Lech am Arlberg is one of the 12 members of the elite group "Best of the Alps". The Lech (, ''Licca'') is a river in Austria and Germany. It is a right tributary of the Danube in length with a drainage basin of . Its average discharge at the mouth is . Its source is located in the Austrian state of Vorarlberg, where the river rises from lake Formarinsee in the Alps at an altitude of . It flows in a north-north-easterly direction and crosses the German border, forming the Lechfall, a waterfall; afterwards the river enters a narrow gorge (the Lechschlucht). Leaving the Alps, it enters the plains of the Allgäu at Füssen at an elevation of in the German state of Bavaria, where it used to be the location of the boundary with Swabia. Lech, Czech, And Rus
Lech, Czech and Rus' (, ) refers to a founding legend of three Slavic brothers who founded three Slavic peoples: the Poles (or Lechites), the Czechs, and the Rus'. The three legendary brothers appear together in the ''Wielkopolska Chronicle'', compiled in the early 14th century. The legend states that the brothers, on a hunting trip, followed different prey and thus travelled (and settled) in different directions: Lech in the northwest, Czech in the west, and Rus' in the northeast. There are multiple versions of the legend, including several regional variants throughout West Slavic, and to lesser extent, other Slavic countries that mention only one or two brothers. The three also figure into the origin myth of South Slavic peoples in some legends. Lech (motorcycle)
Lech is a defunct brand of motorcycles that were manufactured in Opalenica, Poland from 1929 - 1932. It is claimed to be the first Polish manufacturer of mass-produced motorcycles. History On 1 January 1929, industrialist Wacław Sawicki formed the Lech company in Opalenica to build motorcycles. He employed Władysław Zalewski as chief engineer. Zalewski had recently returned to Poland after emigrating to the United States, and had knowledge of the American motorcycles of the era. The first motorcycle was presented at the 1929 Poznań International Fair. Reporting on the Fair, ''Samochód'' (Car) magazine reported of the Lech: ''"We can also find all the features of solid and durable work in one Polish motorcycle,"Lech", native to Opalenica"''. Lech (airship)
Lech was the first Polish airship. It was purchased from France's army surplus in 1920. The airship's type was '' Zodiac VZ-11'', ''Vedette'' class and the French Navy had used it for patrolling and escorting purposes in the area of the Mediterranean. Like other airships of that age, it was filled with flammable hydrogen. It was propelled by two Renault engines (some sources claim these were Anzani engines), each with 80 horsepower. Altogether, the French built 63 ''Zodiac VZ-11'' airships, they were sold to various countries, such as Argentina, USA, Russia and the Netherlands. Renamed ''Lech'', it was brought in parts to the port of Danzig some time in early 1921. Then, in March of that year, it was transported to Toruń, where it was assembled by Zbigniew Burzynski. Between 1921 and 1924, it belonged to the Officer's Aeronautical School in Toruń, then it was passed over to the 1st Balloon Battalion, also in Toruń.
