LGBT Rights In Saudi Arabia
Lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender (LGBT) people in Saudi Arabia face severe repression and legal challenges not experienced by non-LGBT residents. Both male and female same-sex sexual activity is illegal. LGBT rights are not recognized by the government of Saudi Arabia. The criminal code of Saudi Arabia is derived from the Islamic Sharia, from the 7th-century Quran and the prophetic teachings of Lut and Muhammad which has been meticulously preserved in the Sunnah. Homosexuality and being transgender are widely seen as immoral and indecent activities, and the law punishes acts of homosexuality with capital punishment, up to life imprisonment, fines, deportation and flogging; "chemical castration" has been used. ''Ijmāʿ'' ( ar, إجماع , " consensus") is an Arabic term referring to the consensus or agreement of the Islamic community on a point of Islamic law. Sunni Muslims regard ''ijmā as one of the secondary sources of Sharia law, after the Qur'an, and the Sunnah. Grand Mosque Seizure
The Grand Mosque seizure lasted from 20 November 1979 to 4 December 1979, when extremist militants in Saudi Arabia calling for the overthrow of the House of Saud besieged and took over Masjid al-Haram, the holiest Islamic site, in the city of Mecca. The besieging militia, known as the Ikhwan, declared that the Mahdi (a messianic figure in Islamic eschatology) had arrived in the form of one of their leaders: Muhammad Abdullah al-Qahtani; the militants called on all Muslims to obey him. Mar'i Al-Karmi
Marʻī ibn Yūsuf ibn Abī Bakr Aḥmad al-Karmī ( ar, مرعي بن يوسف بن أبي بكر بن أحمد الكرمي; 1580, Tulkarm – 1624, Cairo), often referred as Marʻī ibn Yūsuf al-Karmī, was a Muslim scholar and one of the most famous Hanbali scholars in the Arab world.
