Lázaro At Night
''Lázaro at Night'' () is a 2024 Canadian-Mexican docufiction film, directed by Nicolás Pereda.Vadim Rizov"TIFF 2024: Lázaro at Night, Hard Truths" ''Filmmaker Magazine'', September 9, 2024. Made in conjunction with the Mexican theatre collective Lagartijas Tiradas al Sol, the film centres on Lázaro Rodríguez, Luisa Pardo and Francisco Barreiro, three actors in the collective who become embroiled in a love triangle while auditioning for roles in a film, while being forced to evaluate their own personal lives due to the director's unorthodox casting methods. Nicolás Pereda
Nicolás Pereda (born 1982) is a Mexican-Canadian film director. To date, he has directed nine features and three short films. Personal life Pereda was born in Mexico City in 1982; he holds dual Mexican and Canadian citizenship and is a resident of Toronto, where he studied filmmaking at York University. He received his Bachelor degree of Fine Arts in Films in 2005 and his Master in 2007. He is married to film director Andrea Bussmann, with whom he codirected the 2016 film '' Tales of Two Who Dreamt''. Career Pereda's films, which have been financed by both Mexican and Canadian funds, have been predominantly shot in Mexico and are "resolutely Mexican in their intimate attention to class, culture, social structure, and family relations in Mexican society." Docufiction (or docu-fiction) is the cinematographic combination of documentary film, documentary and fiction, this term often meaning narrative film.
