Luther Rice College & Seminary is a private Baptist college and seminary in Lithonia, Georgia. Through the college and seminary the institution offers bachelor's, master's, and doctoral degrees in leadership, counseling, apologetics, Christian worldview, Christian studies, and Christian ministry. The school is recognized as being theologically conservative. History Luther Rice College & Seminary was founded in 1962 by Robert Gee Witty in Jacksonville, Florida, and named for Luther Rice, an educator, missionary, and clergyman in the early 1800s. The State of Florida granted the school's charter on June 14, 1962. Witty was elected President of the college in 1970, a position he held until 1982, when he retired to become Chancellor. Jody Brownlow Hice (born April 22, 1960) is an American politician, radio show host, and political activist who served as the United States House of Representatives, U.S. representative for Georgia's 10th congressional district from 2015 to 2023. Charles Jerry Vines (born September 1937) is an American preacher and former pastor of what was then the nation's third largest Southern Baptist church, the First Baptist Church of Jacksonville, Florida. Like his former co-pastor Homer G. Lindsay Jr., Vines is well known for his conservative and sometimes controversial public stances, as well as his wide-reaching influence in the Southern Baptist Convention and the local political arena. Manuel Sykes is an American pastor and civic leader from the state of Florida. Career Sykes attended the Luther Rice Seminary & University, graduating in 1983 with a Bachelor of Arts degree. Ric Steel (born 2 December 1952) is a Tennessee-based singer, guitarist, author, and patent holding inventor. Early life Born to traveling musicians, Ric hails from Jackson, Mississippi. At age 10, he began singing professionally as the lead in an operatic performance by Gian Carlo Menotti called "Amahl and the Night Visitors." Anis Shorrosh (; January 6, 1933 – May 13, 2018) was a Palestinian Evangelical Christian author, speaker, and pastor who wrote many books and participated in debates with Muslim author Ahmad Deedat.
