Luis García (third Baseman)
Luis García Beltrán (September 11, 1929 – January 9, 2014) was a Venezuelan professional baseball player and manager. Listed at , , he batted and threw right handed. At an early age García was dubbed Camaleón by his family, and he carried this nickname throughout his professional career, which spanned 22 years. He was born in Carúpano, a city located in the eastern coastal area of Sucre, Venezuela, Sucre state in Venezuela. Despite his short, stocky build, he was a gifted athlete and knew more about baseball than his playmates, so he became the natural leader in pickup games and later in school. Indios De Oriente
The Indios de Oriente was a baseball club which played from 1956 through 1964 in the Venezuelan Professional Baseball League. They played its home games at the Estadio Municipal de Puerto La Cruz in Anzoátegui, Venezuela. History The Indios de Oriente replaced the Navegantes del Magallanes franchise for the 1956–1957 season. The team finished second in the first half with a 13-14 record, but slumped to 10-15 in the second half to finish last in the four-team league, out of contention. They improved to a 22-19 mark in 1957–1958, good for a second place and a playoff berth, but failed in the opening round. In 1958–1959 Oriente finished second during the regular season. The Latin American Series () was a one-time international baseball tournament held in Caracas, Venezuela in March 1952. Envisioned as an alternative to the Caribbean Series contested by national teams, its rosters were made up of professional baseball players, rather than the non-professional amateurs that played in Olympic-style competitions at the time (like the Amateur World Series). The tournament saw the debut of the Estadio Universitario, which would go on to be the longtime home of the Leones del Caracas and Tiburones de La Guaira of the Venezuelan Professional Baseball League. The eleventh edition of the Caribbean Series (''Serie del Caribe'') was played in 1959.
