Lucky Man Cree Nation
The Lucky Man Cree Nation ( papêwê) is a Cree First Nation in Saskatchewan, Canada. After spending more than a hundred years illegally associated by Canada with the Little Pine First Nation, the band was awarded the Lucky Man Reserve, on the eastern border of the RM of Meeting Lake. The re-established nation has the smallest membership in Treaty 6. History The nation is named for Chief Papaway, ᐸᐯᐍ ''papewê'' meaning "lucky man", headman for Little Pine when that group signed Treaty 6 at Fort Walsh in 1879. Settling near Battleford in 1883, he requested a reserve adjacent to Poundmaker, Little Pine, and Big Bear the following year. The government refused, on the grounds that the groups were too closely associated. By 1919, the Lucky Man band had dwindled to a population of nine, living on the Little Pine reserve. In the 1970s, modern research by the Federation of Sovereign Indigenous Nations discovered that Lucky Man had signed Treaty 6 without receiving any land. ...

Sailor (Steve Miller Band Album)
''Sailor'' is the second studio album by American rock band Steve Miller Band, released in October 1968 by Capitol Records. It was recorded in Los Angeles, California, and was produced by the band along with Glyn Johns. It was the last album to feature contributions from original members Boz Scaggs and Jim Peterman. Background Steve Miller Band had signed to Capitol Records in 1967 for an unprecedented advance, but underperformed expectations when its debut album '' Children of the Future'' peaked at number 134 on the ''Billboard'' chart. However, the group continued to be popular in the Bay Area and began to tour overseas. For the next album, engineer Glyn Johns recalls that Miller phoned to say he had decided to change the name of the band to "Sailor" and wanted to create a concept album reflecting the new name. Johns was apprehensive of the idea but studio time was set aside for the sessions. Songs and recording Sessions for ''Sailor'' were held at Wally Heider Studios in Los ...

Starbuck (band)
Starbuck was a rock band formed in Atlanta, Georgia, in 1974 by keyboardist/vocalist/record producer Bruce Blackman and marimba player Bo Wagner. Both Blackman and Wagner, along with guitarist Johnny Walker, had previous success with Mississippi-based "sunshine pop" group Eternity's Children, scoring a ''Billboard'' Hot 100 hit with "Mrs. Bluebird" in the summer of 1968. Wagner worked as a studio musician in Los Angeles in the early 1970s, appeared on ''The Lawrence Welk Show'', and played drums for the extravagant pianist Liberace. Starbuck's debut single, " Moonlight Feels Right", reached the No. 3 position on the ''Billboard'' Hot 100 singles charts in 1976. Although the band never re-created the success of their debut, several of their songs did chart in the Billboard Top 100, and their 1977 release "Everybody Be Dancin'" reached No. 38. The band had little airplay in the UK and, as a result, no chart entries. From 1976 to 1980, the band toured with popular groups of the e ...

The Birthday Party (The Idle Race Album)
''The Birthday Party'' is the debut album by psychedelic pop band The Idle Race, released in 1968. This quasi-concept album was the first to be composed almost entirely of songs by a young Birmingham guitarist/singer named Jeff Lynne. The LP came in a gatefold sleeve. The inside sleeve art included a mock birthday feast attended by many British celebrities, including most of the Radio 1 disc jockeys, the Beatles, the Duke of Windsor, actor Warren Mitchell in his role as Alf Garnett, and group leader Jeff Lynne as an eight-year-old schoolboy. In the U.S. the cover art was different with a rather psychedelic-styled paisley pattern behind the band. 18-year-old Liberty Records label-mate Mike Batt contributed string arrangements for "Follow Me, Follow" and "The Lady Who Said She Could Fly", and played accordion on "The Skeleton and the Roundabout" and "Don't Put Your Boys In The Army Mrs Ward". While warmly received by critics, the record failed to chart in the U.K. or the U.S. Th ...

Hurricane No
A tropical cyclone is a rapidly rotating storm system with a low-pressure area, a closed low-level atmospheric circulation, strong winds, and a spiral arrangement of thunderstorms that produce heavy rain and squalls. Depending on its location and strength, a tropical cyclone is called a hurricane (), typhoon (), tropical storm, cyclonic storm, tropical depression, or simply cyclone. A hurricane is a strong tropical cyclone that occurs in the Atlantic Ocean or northeastern Pacific Ocean. A typhoon is the same thing which occurs in the northwestern Pacific Ocean. In the Indian Ocean and South Pacific, comparable storms are referred to as "tropical cyclones". In modern times, on average around 80 to 90 named tropical cyclones form each year around the world, over half of which develop hurricane-force winds of or more. Tropical cyclones typically form over large bodies of relatively warm water. They derive their energy through the evaporation of water from the ocean surface ...

Tracks (Bruce Springsteen Album)
''Tracks'' is a four-disc box set by the American singer-songwriter Bruce Springsteen, released in 1998 containing 66 songs. This box set mostly consists of never-before-released songs recorded during the sessions for his many albums, but also includes a number of single B-sides, as well as demos and alternate versions of already-released material. History The project began in February 1998, when Springsteen and his chief recording engineer, Toby Scott, began going through his massive collection of unreleased songs. Springsteen had been known as a very prolific songwriter (''Darkness on the Edge of Town'', '' The River'', and '' Born in the U.S.A.'' each had more than 50 songs written for them), and by 1998 the number of unreleased songs was up to more than 350— 3/4 of all his recorded material. Scott had begun on a computerized database of Springsteen's archives in 1985 in order to allow Springsteen to find specific songs that hadn't been released yet, and it was understood by ...
