Lovers' Lane (1924 Film)
''Lovers' Lane'' is a 1924 American silent romantic comedy film based upon the play by Clyde Fitch and directed by Phil Rosen. It stars Robert Ellis and Gertrude Olmstead. Plot As described in a review in a film magazine, when Dr. Singleton (Ellis) tells his sweetheart, Mary Larkin (Olmstead), that even though he loves her he will not surrender his practice in their small New England town, she becomes peeved and encourages a stranger. Dr. Stone (Periolat), an old-timer and anti-modern method practitioner, has told a divorcee that her lame child is incurable. Singleton takes them both into his home and is successful in his operation upon the youngster. Mary decides to marry Woodbridge (Kent), the stranger, and calls upon Singleton’s father (MacGregor), a local minister, to perform the ceremony. Phil Rosen
Philip E. Rosen (May 8, 1888 – October 22, 1951) was an American film director and cinematographer. He directed more than 140 films between 1915 and 1949. He was born in Malbork, Marienburg, German Empire (now, Malbork, Poland), grew up in Machias, Maine, and died in Hollywood, California, of a heart attack. He was one of the founders of the American Society of Cinematographers. Rosen was married to model and actress Joyzelle Joyner. Rosen was meant to direct ''The Mad Dog of Europe'', a film written by Herman J. Mankiewicz with Rudolph Hitler as its central character, but the film was never made. Charles Sellon
Charles A. Sellon (August 24, 1870 – June 26, 1937) was an American stage and film actor. Sellon appeared in more than 100 films and stage acts between 1901 and 1935. He played the blind Mr. Muckle in W. C. Fields' comedy '' It's a Gift'' (1934) and the wheelchair-using uncle in '' Bright Eyes'' (1934) with Shirley Temple. His other films included ''The Mighty'', ''The Painted Desert'', and ''Tracked in the Snow Country''. On Broadway, Sellon appeared in ''The Challenge'' (1919), ''Roads of Destiny'' (1918), ''The Pawn'' (1917), and ''The Cat and the Fiddle'' (1907). Sellon was married to Florence E. Lost Film
A lost film is a feature film, feature or short film in which the original negative or copies are not known to exist in any studio archive, private collection, or public archive. Films can be wholly or partially lost for a number of reasons. Early films were not thought to have value beyond their theatrical run, so many were discarded afterward. Nitrate film used in early pictures was highly flammable and susceptible to degradation. The Library of Congress began acquiring copies of American films in 1909, but not all were kept. Due to improvements in film technology and recordkeeping, few films produced in the 1950s or beyond have been lost. Rarely, but occasionally, films classified as lost are found in an uncataloged or miscataloged archive or private collection, becoming "rediscovered films".
