"Love's Crashing Waves" is a song written by Difford & Tilbrook and released on their 1984 self-titled debut album. Released as the first single from ''Difford & Tilbrook'', "Love's Crashing Waves" saw moderate commercial success. Though considered the most commercial song on the album, it saw limited chart success: it was the act's only charting single in the UK (reaching number 57), and by 1985 Chris Difford and Glenn Tilbrook had re-formed their previous (and more popular) band, Squeeze. Difford & Tilbrook
Difford & Tilbrook are the songwriting team of Chris Difford and Glenn Tilbrook, known for their work as the principal writers for the new wave rock band Squeeze. In addition to playing guitar for the band, they are responsible for the group's many hits, including " Cool for Cats", "Up the Junction", " Another Nail in My Heart", " Pulling Mussels (From the Shell)", " Tempted" and "Annie Get Your Gun". They have both written independently outside the band, and together wrote the music for the British sit-com '' Girls on Top'' starring Dawn French, Jennifer Saunders, Ruby Wax and Tracey Ullman. Annie Zaleski is an American music journalist and author. Career Zaleski is a regular writer for mainstream media outlets such as The A.V. Club and NPR Music, and a columnist at ''Salon''. She is based in Cleveland, Ohio where she has won first place awards from the Ohio Society of Professional Journalists, including Best Arts Review (2017) and Best Feature Writing (2019). __NOTOC__ Sophisti-pop is a subgenre of pop music which developed out of the new wave movement in the UK during the mid 1980s. The term has been applied retrospectively to describe acts who blended elements of jazz, soul, and pop with lavish production. Music so classified often made extensive use of electronic keyboards, synthesizers and polished arrangements. Artists also utilized cutting-edge studio technology and perfectionist recording methods. ''Difford & Tilbrook'' is the only studio album released by Difford & Tilbrook. Chris Difford and Glenn Tilbrook were the main songwriters in the new wave band Squeeze until their 1982 breakup. The duo continued to write songs together, and in 1984 released this self-titled effort. Because Chris Difford and Glenn Tilbrook have always been the songwriters and only constant members of Squeeze, ''Difford & Tilbrook'' is often considered to be a Squeeze album in all but name. Several remastered tracks from this album have been included on Squeeze compilations such as ''Piccadilly Collection'' and ''Excess Moderation'' (both released in 1996), and tracks "Hope Fell Down" and "Love's Crashing Waves" have regularly been included in Squeeze setlists since 2010. Squeeze (band)
Squeeze are an English rock band that came to prominence in the United Kingdom during the new wave period of the late 1970s, and continued recording in the 1980s, 1990s and 2010s. In the UK, their singles " Cool for Cats", " Up the Junction", and "Labelled with Love" were top-ten chart hits; "Pulling Mussels" only made it to 44 in the UK charts. Though not as commercially successful in the United States, Squeeze had American hits with " Tempted", "Black Coffee in Bed", and " Hourglass", and were considered a part of the Second British Invasion. The vast majority of their material is composed of lyrics by Chris Difford and music by Glenn Tilbrook, who are guitarists and vocalists in the band. The duo were hailed as "the heirs to Lennon and McCartney's throne" during the band's initial popularity in the late 1970s. The group formed in Deptford, London, in 1974, and first broke up in 1982. Anthony Edward Visconti (born April 24, 1944) is an American record producer, musician and singer. Since the late 1960s, he has worked with an array of performers. His first hit single was T. Rex's " Ride a White Swan" in 1970, the first of many hits in collaboration with Marc Bolan.
