Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns Men's Basketball
The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns men's basketball program represents intercollegiate men's basketball at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. The school competes in the Sun Belt Conference in Division I of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) and play home games at the Cajundome in Lafayette, Louisiana. Quannas White is the head coach of the team after the firing of Bob Marlin in December 2024. Louisiana has appeared in the NCAA tournament eleven times, most recently in 2023. Kansas State Wildcats Men's Basketball
The Kansas State Wildcats men's basketball team represents Kansas State University in college basketball competition. The program is classified in the NCAA Division I, and is a member of the Big 12 Conference. The head coach is Jerome Tang. The program began competition in 1902. The 1973 NCAA University Division basketball tournament involved 25 schools playing in single-elimination play to determine the national champion of men's NCAA University Division (now Division I, created later in 1973) college basketball. It began on Saturday, March 10, and ended with the championship game on Monday, March 26, in St. Louis, Missouri. A total of 29 games were played, including a third-place game in each region and a national third-place game. Led by longtime head coach John Wooden, the UCLA Bruins won their seventh consecutive national title with an 87–66 victory in the final game over Memphis State, coached by Gene Bartow, a future head coach at UCLA. The 1971–72 Louisville Cardinals men's basketball team represented the University of Louisville during the 1971–72 NCAA Division I men's basketball season, Louisville's 59th season of intercollegiate competition. The Cardinals competed in the Missouri Valley Conference and were coached by Denny Crum, in his first season as a coach. The team played their home games at Freedom Hall. Louisville defeated Memphis State 83–72 in the Missouri Valley Conference playoff to earn an automatic bid to the NCAA tournament. They beat Kansas State to win the NCAA tournament Midwest Regional and advance to the Final Four (their 2nd) where they fell to eventual champion UCLA, 96–77. The Marshall Thundering Herd men's basketball team represents Marshall University in Huntington, West Virginia, United States. Elfrid Payton Jr. (born February 22, 1994) is an American professional basketball player for the New Orleans Pelicans of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He played college basketball for the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns, winning the Lefty Driesell Award as the national college defensive player of the year in 2014.
